Matthew 21:12-17 - The Cleansing Of The Temple

¹² And Jesus came into the temple of God, and cast out all those selling and buying in the temple, and he overturned the money-changers' tables, and the seats of those selling doves, ¹³ And he says to them, It was written, My house shall be called the house of prayer; and ye have made it a den of robbers.

¹⁴ And the blind and lame came to him in the temple; and he cured them. ¹⁵ And the chief priests and scribes, seeing the wonderful things which he did, and the children crying in the temple, and saying, Osanna to the son of David; they felt pain. ¹⁶ And they said to him, Hearest thou what these say? And Jesus says to them, Yes; have ye never read, That out of the mouths of young children and sucklings thou hast adjusted praise?

¹⁷ And leaving them, he went without the city, to Bethany; and lodged there.

¹⁵ And they come to Jerusalem : and Jesus having entered into the temple, began to cast out those selling and buying in the temple; and the tables of the money-changers, and the seats of those selling doves he overturned; ¹⁶ And he permitted not that any should bring a vessel through the temple.

¹⁷ And he taught, saying to them, Has it not been written, That my house shall be called the house of prayer to all nations and ye made it a den of robbers. ¹⁸ And the scribes and chief priests heard, and they sought how they might destroy him : for they feared him, for all the crowd were struck with amazement at his teaching.

¹⁹ And when it was evening, he went without the city.

⁴⁵ And having come into the temple, he began to cast out them selling and buying in it; ⁴⁶ Saying to them, It has been written, My house is the house of prayer: and ye have made it a den of robbers.

⁴⁷ And he was teaching in the day in the temple. And the chief priests and scribes and the first of the people sought to destroy him, ⁴⁸ And they found not what they might do: for all the people hearing hanged on him.

¹⁴ And found in the temple those selling oxen and sheep and doves, and money-changers sitting; ¹⁵ And having made a scourge of ropes, he cast all out of the temple, also sheep, and oxen; and poured out the small coin of money-changers, and overturned the tables; ¹⁶ And he said to those selling doves, Take away these things hence; make not the house of my Father a house of merchandise.

¹⁷ And his disciples remembered that it is written, The zeal of thine house has eaten me up.

¹⁸ Then answered the Jews and said to him, What sign shewest thou, that thou doest these things?

¹⁹ Jesus answered and said to them, Loose this temple, and in three days will I raise it up.

²⁰ Then said the Jews, In forty-six years was this temple built, and wilt thou raise it up in three days?

²¹ But he spake concerning the temple of his body. ²² When therefore he was risen from the dead, his disciples remembered that he said this to them; and they believed the writing, and the word which Jesus spake.
