Matthew 21:12-17 - The Cleansing Of The Temple

Matthew 21:12-17

12 And Jesus entered into the temple of God, and cast out all that sold and bought in the temple, and overturned the tables of the brokers, and the seats of those that sold doves, 13 and said to them, It is written, my house shall be called a house of prayer; but you make it a den of robbers.

14 And the blind and crippled came to him in the temple, and he cured them. 15 And when the chief priests and scribes saw the wonderful works which he performed, and the children crying in the temple and saying, Hosanna to the Son of David! they were displeased, 16 and said to him, Do you hear what these say? And Jesus said to them, Yes. Have you never read, that out of the mouths of babes and nursing infants, you have perfected praise?

17 And he left them, and went out of the city to Bethany, and lodged there.

Mark 11:15-19

15 And they came to Jerusalem, and going into the temple he cast out those that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the brokers, and the seats of those that sold doves, 16 and permitted no one to carry a vessel through the temple.

17 And he taught them, saying, It is written, my house shall be called a house of prayer for all nations; but you have made it a den of robbers. 18 And the scribes and chief priests came and sought how they might destroy him, for they feared him, because all the people were astonished at his teaching.

19 And when it was evening he went out of the city.

Luke 19:45-48

45 And going into the temple he cast out those that sold, 46 saying to them, it is written, My house shall be a house of prayer; but you have made it a den of robbers.

47 AND he taught daily in the temple; and the chief priests, and scribes, and the first of the people sought to destroy him. 48 And they found nothing that they could do; for all the people were attentive to hear him.

John 2:14-22

14 And he found in the temple those that sold cattle, and sheep, and doves, and the brokers sitting; 15 and making a whip of cords he drove them all out of the temple, also the sheep and cattle, and poured out the money of the brokers, and overturned the tables, 16 and said to those that sold doves, Take these things hence; make not my Father's house a house of merchandise.

17 And his disciples remembered that it was written, The zeal of thy house consumes me.

18 Then the Jews answered and said to him, What sign do you show us, that you do these things?

19 Jesus answered and said to them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it.

20 Then the Jews said to him, Forty-six years was this temple being built, and will you raise it in three days?

21 But he spoke of the temple of his body. 22 When, therefore, he was raised from the dead, his disciples remembered that he said this, and they believed the Scripture and the word which Jesus spoke.
