Morish

nekeh.

This word occurs only in Ps 35:15. The root signifies 'to smite,' and Horsley translates "smiters were gathered together against me." The LXX, "Plagues were plentifully brought against me." Hengstenberg retains 'abjects,' and says, "the smitten are men of the lowest grade, the poorest," whom the Psalmist said "I knew not." He thinks Job 30:1, seq., is "a strikingly coincident parallel passage."
