Ahi'ah, or Ahi'jah
(friend of Jehovah).
1. Son of Ahitub, grandson of Phinehas and great-grandson of Eli, succeeded his father as high priest in the reign of Saul.
Ahiah is probably the same person as Ahimelech the son of Ahitub. (B.C. 980.)
2. One of Solomon's princes.
3. A prophet of Shiloh,
hence called the Shilonite,
of whom we have two remarkable prophecies extant, the one in
addressed to Jeroboam, announcing the rending of the ten tribes from Solomon; the other in
in which he foretold the death of Abijah, the king's son, who was sick, and the destruction of Jeroboam's house on account of the images which he had set up.

And Ahijah the son of Ahitub, Ichabod's brother, the son of Phinehas, the son of Eli, was the LORD's priest in Shiloh and bare an ephod. But the people knew not that Jonathan was gone.
And then Saul said unto Ahijah, "Bring hither the ark of God." For the ark of God was at the time with the children of Israel.
And he disputed of trees, even from the Cedar tree that groweth in Lebanon unto the Hyssop that springeth out of the wall. And he disputed of beasts, fowls, worms, and fishes.

Howbeit, I will take none of the kingdom out of his hand: but will make him chief all his life long, for David my servant's sake, which I chose: because he kept my commandments and ordinances. But I will take the kingdom out of his son's hand and will give unto thee ten tribes of it: and will give his son one, that David my servant may have a light always before me in Jerusalem, the city which I have chosen me, to put my name there. And I will take thee, and thou shalt reign upon all that thy soul desireth and shalt be king over Israel. And Jeroboam said unto his wife, "Up, a fellowship, and change thine apparel that thou be not known to be the wife of Jeroboam, and get thee to Shiloh. For there is Ahijah the prophet which told me that I should be king over this people.

Therefore, behold, I will bring evil upon the house of Jeroboam and will strike from Jeroboam all that pisseth against the wall, and whatsoever is in prison or forsaken in Israel, and will take away the remnant of the house of Jeroboam, as men take away a dung hill, till it be consumed. And whosoever of Jeroboam's house die in the town, him shall the dogs eat, and him that dieth in the field, shall the fowls of the air eat': for the LORD hath said it. Up, and get thee to thine house, and as soon as thy foot enterest the city, the lad shall die. Howbeit, all Israel shall mourn him and bury him, for this only of all Jeroboam shall come to the sepulchre, because in him there is found goodness toward the LORD God of Israel in the house of Jeroboam. Moreover, the LORD shall stir him up a king over Israel which shall destroy the house of Jeroboam in that day. And what is that, that is now in hand? And the LORD shall smite Israel, as a reed that groweth in the water is shaken, and will weed Israel out of this good land which he gave to their fathers, and will scatter them beyond Euphrates, because they have made them groves to anger the LORD. And he will give Israel up, because of the sin of Jeroboam wherewith he did sin and made Israel sin thereto."
But Baasha the son of Ahijah of the house of Issachar conspired against him, and slew him at Gibbethon a city of the Philistines; for Nadab and all Israel lay at siege before Gibbethon.
And the third year of Asa king of Judah, Baasha the son of Ahijah began to reign over all Israel in Tirzah, and continued twenty four years.
And the sons of Jerahmeel, the eldest son of Hezron were: Ram, the eldest and Bunah, Oren, Ozem and Ahijah.
