And all Israel buried him and lamented him, according to the word of the LORD which he spake by the hand of his servant Ahijah the Prophet.

Wherefore hast thou despised the commandment of the LORD, to do wickedness in his sight? Thou hast killed Uriah the Hittite with the sword and hast taken his wife to thy wife, and hast slain him with the sword of the children of Ammon. Now therefore the sword shall never depart from thine house, because thou hast despised me and taken the wife of Uriah the Hittite, to be thy wife.' Thus sayeth the LORD, 'Behold, I will stir up evil against thee even of thine own house and will take thy wives before thine eyes, and give them unto thy neighbour, which shall sleep with them in the sight of the sun. And thou didst it secretly, yet will I do this thing before all Israel and in the open sunlight.'" Then said David unto Nathan, "I have sinned against the LORD." And Nathan said again to David, "The LORD hath put away thy sin; thou shalt not die. Howbeit, because in doing this deed thou hast given the enemies of the LORD a cause to rail, the child that is born thee shall die surely." And Nathan departed unto his house. And the LORD struck the child, that Uriah's wife bare David, and it sickened.

But Zadok the priest, Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, Nathan the prophet, Shimei and Rei and the men of might which were with David, favored not Adonijah.

But Nathan the prophet and Benaiah and the mighty men and Solomon his brother he bade not.

Then said king David, "Call me Zadok the priest and Nathan the prophet and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada." And when they came before the king,

And let Zadok the priest and Nathan the prophet anoint him there, to be king over Israel. And then blow ye with a trumpet and say, 'God save king Solomon.'

And Zadok the priest and Nathan the prophet and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada and the Cherethites and Pelethites went down, and set Solomon upon king David's mule and led him to Gihon.

And all Israel from Dan to Beersheba wist that Samuel was truly made the LORD's prophet.

"Behold, there is in this city a worshipful man of God, and all that he sayeth cometh to pass. Now then let us go thither: peradventure he shall show us what way we may go."

Also all the prophets from Samuel, and thenceforth, as many as have spoken, have in likewise told of these days.

And afterward he gave unto them judges, about the space of four hundred and fifty years, unto the time of Samuel the prophet.

In the eighth month of the second year of king Darius, came the word of the LORD unto Zechariah the son of Berechiah, the son of Iddo, the Prophet, saying,

that upon you may come all the righteous blood that was shed upon the earth: from the blood of righteous Abel, unto the blood of Zachariah the son of Barachiah, whom ye slew between the temple and the altar:

from the blood of Abel unto the blood of Zacharias, which perished between the altar and the temple. Verily I say unto you, It shall be required of this nation.
