This, the first sign of his mission, Jesus gave at Cana in Galilee, and by it revealed his glory; and his disciples believed in him.

Then the Jews addressed Him and asked, "What sign can you show us that you have authority to act in this way?"

This is again the second sign that Jesus did, having come out of Judaea into Galilee.

When therefore the people saw the sign which he did, they said, This is of a truth the prophet that cometh into the world.

They said therefore unto him, What then doest thou for a sign, that we may see, and believe thee? what workest thou?

and many came unto him, and said -- 'John, indeed, did no sign, and all things, as many as John said about this one were true;'

Now Jesus sighed again and continued to sigh as He went to the grave. It was a cave with a stone lying over the mouth of it.

The crowd was going out to meet Jesus because they had heard that he had performed this sign.

Making a sign to him, Simon Peter said, Who is it he is talking about?

That the word of Jesus might be completed which he spake, giving a sign by what death he was about to die.

Pilate also had a sign lettered and put on the cross. The inscription was:

JESUS THE NAZARENE

THE KING OF THE JEWS.

Many of the Jews read this sign, because the place where Jesus was crucified was near the city, and it was written in Hebrew, Latin, and Greek.

Many another Sign did Jesus perform in presence of his disciples, which is not recorded in this book;
