Whoever claims to be in the light, and yet continues to hate his brother is still in darkness. Whoever continues to love his brother is always in the light, and he is no hindrance to others.

We know that we have passed out of death into life, because we love our brothers. Whoever does not continue to love continues still in death. Anyone who keeps on hating his brother is a murderer; and you know that no murderer can have eternal life remaining in him. We know what love is from the fact that He laid down His life for us; and so we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers. read more.
But if anyone has the world's means of supporting life and sees his brother in need and closes his heart against him, how can love to God remain in him? Dear children, let us stop loving with words or lips alone, but let us love with actions and in truth.

Dearly beloved, let us practice loving one another, because love originates with God, and everyone who practices loving is a child of God and knows God by experience. Whoever does not love has never come to know God by experience, because God is love. This is the way God's love for us has been shown, namely, God has sent His only Son into the world that we through Him might have life. read more.
In this way is seen the true love, not that we loved God but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the atoning sacrifice for our sins. Dearly beloved, if God has loved us so, we ought to love one another too.

At that time Jesus said, "I thank You, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, for concealing these matters from wise and learned men, and for revealing them to little children. Yes, Father, I thank You that Your good pleasure made it so. All things have been entrusted to me by my Father, and no one but the Father perfectly knows the Son, and no one but the Son perfectly knows the Father, and the one to whom the Son chooses to make Him known.

All things have been entrusted to me by my Father, and no one knows who the Son is but the Father, and who the Father is but the Son, and anyone to whom the Son chooses to make Him known." I am the good shepherd myself. I know my sheep and my sheep know me, just as the Father knows me and I know the Father, and I am giving my own life for my sheep. I have other sheep too that do not belong to this fold. I must lead them too, and they will listen to my voice, and all my sheep will become one flock with one shepherd.

My dear children, I am writing you this so that you may not sin; yet if anyone ever sins, we have One who pleads our case with the Father, Jesus Christ, One who is righteous. And He is Himself the atoning sacrifice for our sins; and not for ours alone, but also for the whole world. By this we can be sure that we know Him -- if we practice obedience to His commands.

In this way is seen the true love, not that we loved God but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the atoning sacrifice for our sins. Dearly beloved, if God has loved us so, we ought to love one another too. No one has ever seen God; yet if we practice loving one another, God remains in union with us, and our love for Him attains perfection in our hearts, By the fact that He has given us a portion of His Spirit we can be sure that we remain in union with Him and He in union with us. We have seen and now testify that the Father has sent His Son to be the Saviour of the world. Whoever owns that Jesus is the Son of God, God remains in union with him and he in union with God. So we know by experience and trust the love that God has for us. God is love, and whoever continues to love continues in union with God and God in union with him. Our love attains perfection through our having perfect confidence about the day of judgment, because here in this world we are living as He did. There is no fear in love, and perfect love drives out fear, because fear pertains to punishment, and no one who is subject to fear has attained perfection in love. We love, because He loved us first. If anyone says, "I love God," and yet habitually hates his brother, he is a liar; for whoever does not love his brother whom he has seen cannot love God whom he has not seen. This is the command that we get from Him, that whoever loves God loves his brother too.

Let what you have heard from the beginning continue to live in your hearts; if you do, you will always remain in union with the Son and the Father. And the very thing that He Himself has promised us is eternal life. I write you this with reference to those who are trying to lead you astray, read more.
The anointing of the Spirit which you received still remains in your hearts, and so you have no need that anyone should teach you. But just as that anointing of His teaches you about everything, and as it is true and no falsehood, and as it has taught you to do so, you must continue to live in union with Him. And now, dear children, I repeat, you must continue to live in union with Him, so that if He is unveiled, we may have unshaken confidence and not shrink away from Him in shame when He comes. If you know that He is upright, you must know that everyone who practices uprightness is born of Him.

In the beginning the Word existed; and the Word was face to face with God; yea, the Word was God Himself. He is the One who was face to face with God in the beginning. It was through Him that everything came into existence, and apart from Him not a single thing came into existence. read more.
It was by Him that life began to exist, and that life was the light of mankind. So the light continues to shine in the darkness, for the darkness has never overpowered it. There appeared a man named John, sent from God. He came for the purpose of testifying, to testify to the light, so that everyone through him might come to believe. He was not the light; he came to testify to the light. The real light, which sheds light upon everyone, was just coming into the world. He came into the world, and though the world through Him began to exist, it did not recognize Him. He came into His own world, but His own people did not welcome Him. But to all who did accept Him, and trust in His name, He gave the right to become the children of God, who were born of God and not of natural blood nor of physical or human impulse.

But they would not receive Him, because He was facing in the direction of Jerusalem. When the disciples, James and John, saw this, they said, "Lord, do you want us to bid fire come down from heaven and consume them?"
