Every man would bring his annual tribute: items of silver and gold, clothing, weapons, spices, and horses and mules.

So Jesse took a donkey loaded with bread, a skin of wine, and one young goat and sent them by his son David to Saul.

Indeed, there was joy in Israel.

But Saul ordered, "No one will be executed this day, for today the Lord has provided deliverance in Israel." So all the people went to Gilgal, and there in the Lord's presence they made Saul king. There they sacrificed fellowship offerings in the Lord's presence, and Saul and all the men of Israel greatly rejoiced.
