By the hand of thy messengers, thou hast reproached the Lord and hast said, With the multitude of my chariots I have come up to the height of the mountains, to the sides of Lebanon, and will cut down the tall cedar trees thereof and the choice fir trees thereof; and I will enter into the habitation of his borders and into the forest of his Carmel.

And Solomon counted seventy thousand men to bear burdens and eighty thousand to hew in the mountain, and three thousand six hundred to oversee them.

Send me also cedar trees, fir trees, and pine trees, out of Lebanon, for I know that thy slaves are skillful at cutting timber in Lebanon, and, behold, my slaves shall be with thy slaves to prepare me timber in abundance, for the house which I am about to build shall be great and wonderful. And, behold, I will give to thy slaves, the hewers that cut timber, twenty thousand measures of beaten wheat and twenty thousand measures of barley and twenty thousand baths of wine and twenty thousand baths of oil.


Run, my beloved, and be thou like to a roe or to a young hart upon the mountains of spices.

Until the day breaks, and the shadows flee away, I will go to the mountain of myrrh and to the hill of frankincense.


And of the Gadites there separated themselves unto David in the fortress in the wilderness, men of might of war fit for the battle, put in order with shield and buckler, whose faces were like the faces of lions and were as swift as the roes upon the mountains;

Now therefore, do not let my blood fall to the earth before the face of the LORD, for the king of Israel is come out to seek a flea as when one hunts a partridge in the mountains.


The tender grass shows itself, and the hay appears, and the herbs of the mountains are reaped.


For the LORD thy God brings thee into a good land, a land of brooks, of waters, of fountains and depths that spring out of valleys and hills,

I will open rivers in high places and fountains in the midst of the plains; I will turn the wilderness into pools of water and the dry land into springs of water.


inflaming yourselves with idols under every green tree, slaying the children in the valleys under the clefts of the rocks?

They dwelt in the clifts of the valleys, in caves of the earth, and in the rocks.


I am the lily of the field and the rose of the valleys.




And the king made silver to be in Jerusalem as stones, and he made cedars to be as the sycamore trees that are in the vale, for abundance.


And those that escape of them shall be upon the mountains like doves of the valleys, all of them mourning, each one for his iniquity.
