Then he said, Go and tell this people, Hear indeed, but do not understand; and see indeed, but do not perceive.

And some believed the things which were spoken, and some did not believe. for the heart of this people is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes have they closed; lest they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears and understand with their heart and should be converted and I should heal them.

(according as it is written, God has given them the spirit of anguish, eyes with which they do not see and ears with which they do not hear) unto this day. And David says, Let their table be turned into a snare and a net and a stumblingblock and a recompense unto them; Let their eyes be darkened that they may not see, and bow down their back always.

For this cause therefore I have called for you, to see you and to speak with you: because for the hope of Israel I am bound with this chain.
