who were once disobedient, when the long-suffering of God was waiting in the days of Noah, while an ark was being prepared, entering into which, a few, that is, eight, souls were saved through water;

And he said to the vinedresser, 'Behold, these three years I come, seeking fruit on this fig tree, and find none; cut it down; why does it also make the land useless?' But he, answering, says to him, 'Lord, leave it this year also, until I dig about it, and cast in fertilizers.
And if, indeed, it bear fruit for the future, well; but, if not, you shall cut it down.'"
