Jesus perceived that they wanted to ask him, and said: "Are you questioning one another about my saying, 'A little while and you shall behold me no more, and again a little while you shall see me'? I tell you solemnly that you will be weeping and wailing while the world is rejoicing; you will be grief-stricken, but your grief shall be turned into gladness. So you also have sorrow now, but I will see you again and your heart will rejoice, and your joy shall no man snatch away from you. And in that day you will ask me no questions. "Most solemnly I tell you that whatever you ask the Father in my name, he will give you. Hitherto you have asked nothing in my name; ask, and you shall receive, that your joy may be full. "I have told you these things in figures; but the time is coming when I shall no longer speak in figures, but will tell you about the Father in plain words. In that day you shall pray in my name; and I do not tell you that I will ask the Father on your behalf; for the Father himself loves you, because you have loved me and believed that I came forth from the God.
