“He who sacrifices to any god, other than to the Lord alone, shall be put under a ban (designated) for destruction (execution).

You shall not sacrifice to the Lord your God an ox or sheep with a blemish or any defect whatsoever, for that is an abomination to the Lord your God. If there is found among you within any of your towns which the Lord your God gives you a man or woman who does what is wicked in the sight of the Lord your God by transgressing His covenant, Who has gone and served other gods and worshiped them, or the sun or moon or any of the host of the heavens, which I have forbidden, read more.
And it is told and you hear of it, then inquire diligently. And if it is certainly true that such an abomination has been committed in Israel, Then you shall bring forth to your town's gates that man or woman who has done that wicked thing and you shall stone that man or woman to death. On the evidence of two or three witnesses he who is worthy of death shall be put to death; he shall not be put to death on the evidence of one witness. The hands of the witnesses shall be the first against him to put him to death, and afterward the hands of all the people. So you shall purge the evil from among you.


But if it has any defect or injury, such as lameness or blindness, or any serious defect, you shall not sacrifice it to the Lord your God.

When you [priests] present the blind [animals] for sacrifice, is it not evil? And when you present the lame and the sick, is it not evil? Offer such a thing [as a blind or lame or sick animal] to your governor [as a gift or as payment for your taxes]. Would he be pleased with you? Or would he receive you graciously?” says the Lord of hosts.

so that you may be accepted—it must be a male without blemish from the cattle, the sheep, or the goats.

“But cursed is the swindler who has a male in his flock and vows [to offer] it, but sacrifices to the Lord a blemished or diseased thing! For I am a great King,” says the Lord of hosts, “and My name is to be [reverently and greatly] feared among the nations.”
