Wherefore should the Egyptians speak, and say, 'For a mischief did he bring them out: even for to slay them in the mountains, and to consume them from the face of the earth.' Turn from thy fierce wrath, and have compassion over the wickedness of thy people. Remember Abraham, Isaac and Israel thy servants, to whom thou sworest by thine own self and saidest unto them, 'I will multiply your seed as the stars of heaven, and all this land which I have said, I will give unto your seed: and they shall inherit it forever.'" read more.

For thou art a holy nation unto the LORD thy God: the LORD thy God hath chosen thee to be a several people unto himself of all nations that are upon the earth. It was not because of the multitude of you, above all nations, that the LORD had lust unto you and chose you: For ye were fewest of all nations. But because the LORD loved you, and because he would keep the oath which he had sworn unto your fathers, therefore he brought you out of Egypt with a mighty hand and delivered you out of the house of bondage; even from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt.

Yea, the truth is laid in prison, and he that refraineth himself from evil must be spoiled. When the LORD saw this, it displeased him sore that there was nowhere any equity.
