Reed » Used as a measuring device (six cubits)
And a measuring rod similar in appearance to a staff was given to me, saying, "Get up and measure the temple of God and the altar and those who worship in it.

And the alcove [was] one reed long and one reed wide, and between the alcoves [was] five cubits, and the threshold of the gate along the side of the portico of the gate {on the inside} [was] one reed. And [then] he measured the portico of the gate {on the inside} [as] one reed.
And [then] he went toward [the] gate whose face [was] {to the east}. And he went up by its steps, and he measured the threshold of the gate, one reed wide. And the alcove [was] one reed long and one reed wide, and between the alcoves [was] five cubits, and the threshold of the gate along the side of the portico of the gate {on the inside} [was] one reed. And [then] he measured the portico of the gate {on the inside} [as] one reed.
And I saw for the temple a platform {all the way around} the foundations of the side rooms; [it was] the length of a full reed, six cubits long.
