When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, The moon and the stars, which You have ordained; What is man that You take thought of him, And the son of man that You care for him?

“Where were you when I laid the foundation of the earth?
Tell Me, if you have understanding,

“What is man, that he should be pure,
Or he who is born of a woman, that he should be righteous?

'He puts no trust even in His servants; And against His angels He charges error. 'How much more those who dwell in houses of clay, Whose foundation is in the dust, Who are crushed before the moth!

"Can a vigorous man be of use to God, Or a wise man be useful to himself? "Is there any pleasure to the Almighty if you are righteous, Or profit if you make your ways perfect? "Is it because of your reverence that He reproves you, That He enters into judgment against you? read more.
"Is not your wickedness great, And your iniquities without end?

"How then can a man be just with God? Or how can he be clean who is born of woman? "If even the moon has no brightness And the stars are not pure in His sight, How much less man, that maggot, And the son of man, that worm!"

"Do you think this is according to justice? Do you say, 'My righteousness is more than God's'? "For you say, 'What advantage will it be to You? What profit will I have, more than if I had sinned?' "I will answer you, And your friends with you. read more.
"Look at the heavens and see; And behold the clouds--they are higher than you. "If you have sinned, what do you accomplish against Him? And if your transgressions are many, what do you do to Him? "If you are righteous, what do you give to Him, Or what does He receive from your hand? "Your wickedness is for a man like yourself, And your righteousness is for a son of man.

"Have you ever in your life commanded the morning, And caused the dawn to know its place, That it might take hold of the ends of the earth, And the wicked be shaken out of it?

O LORD, what is man, that You take knowledge of him? Or the son of man, that You think of him? Man is like a mere breath; His days are like a passing shadow.
