For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh out for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory;
Behold, happy is the man whom God correcteth: therefore despise not thou the chastening of the Almighty:
But he knoweth the way that I take: when he hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold.
Surely it is meet to be said to God, I have borne chastisement, I will not offend any more:
Before I was afflicted I went astray: but now have I kept thy word.
It is better to go to the house of mourning, than to go to the house of feasting: for that is the end of all men; and the living will lay it to his heart.
And said, I cried by reason of my affliction to the LORD, and he heard me; out of the belly of hell cried I, and thou heardst my voice.
And I will bring the third part through the fire, and will refine them as silver is refined, and will try them as gold is tried: they shall call on my name, and I will hear them: I will say, It is my people; and they shall say, The LORD is my God.
Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless, afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness to them who are exercised by it.
And I said to him, Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they who came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.

So the poor hath hope, and iniquity stoppeth her mouth. He will deliver thee in six troubles: yea, in seven there shall no evil touch thee. In famine he will redeem thee from death: and in war from the power of the sword. Thou shalt be hid from the scourge of the tongue: neither shalt thou be afraid of destruction when it cometh. At destruction and famine thou shalt laugh: neither shalt thou be afraid of the beasts of the earth. For thou shalt be in league with the stones of the field: and the beasts of the field shall be at peace with thee. And thou shalt know that thy tabernacle will be in peace; and thou shalt visit thy habitation, and shalt not sin.
