For to this ye were called; because even Christ suffered for us, leaving you an example, that ye should follow his steps; who committed no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth; who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered did not threaten, but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously;

Jesus saith to him, He that hath bathed needeth not to wash himself, but is wholly clean; and ye are clean, but not all. For he knew who was about to betray him; for this reason he said, Ye are not all clean. Ye call me the Teacher, and the Lord; and ye say well; for so I am. If I then, the Lord and the Teacher, have washed your feet, ye also ought to wash one anothers feet. For I have given you an example, that ye also should do as I have done to you.

Now before the feast of the passover, Jesus, knowing that his hour had come that he should depart out of this world to the Father, having loved his own who were in the world, loved them unto the end. And supper being served, the Devil having already put it into the heart of Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon, to betray him, he, knowing that the Father had given all things into his hands, and that he came forth from God, and was going to God, read more.

If ye know these things, happy are ye if ye do them.

Then Judas, who betrayed him, when he saw that he was condemned, repented, and brought back the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders, saying, I sinned in betraying innocent blood. And they said, What is that to us? See thou to it. And he cast down the pieces of silver in the temple, and withdrew; and went away and hanged himself. read more.
And the chief priests took the pieces of silver, and said, It is not lawful to put them into the treasury, since they are the price of blood. And they consulted together, and bought with them the potters field, for a burialplace for strangers. Wherefore that field hath been called, The Field of Blood, unto this day. Then was fulfilled that which was spoken through Jeremiah the prophet, saying, "And they took the thirty pieces of silver, the price of him that was priced, whom they of the sons of Israel priced, and gave them for the potters field; as the Lord commanded me."

I speak not of you all; I know whom I chose; but that the Scripture may be fulfilled, "He that eateth bread with me, hath lifted up his heel against me."

When Jesus had thus spoken, he lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father! the hour is come; glorify thy Son, that the Son may glorify thee; according as thou gavest him authority over all flesh, that he should give everlasting life to all whom thou hast given him. And this is the everlasting life, to know thee, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom thou didst send. read more.
I have glorified thee on the earth, having finished the work which thou gavest me to do; and now, Father! do thou glorify me with thyself, with the glory which I had with thee before the world was. I manifested thy name to the men whom thou gavest me out of the world. Thine they were, and thou gavest them to me; and they have kept thy word. Now they know that all things whatever thou hast given me are from thee; for I have given to them the words which thou hast given me; and they received them, and knew surely that I came forth from thee, and believed that thou didst send me. I pray for them; I pray not for the world, but for those whom thou hast given me; for they are thine; and all things that are mine are thine, and thine are mine; and I am glorified in them. And I am no longer in the world; and they are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father! keep them in thy name which thou hast given me, that they may be one, even as we are. While I was with them, I kept them in thy name which thou hast given me, and guarded them; and no one of them is lost except the son of perdition, that the Scripture may be fulfilled.

Brethren, it was necessary that this scripture should be fulfilled, which the Holy Spirit through the mouth of David spoke before concerning Judas, who became guide to those who took Jesus. For he was numbered among us, and obtained the allotment of this ministry. Now this man purchased a field with the wages of the iniquity; and falling headlong he burst asunder in the middle, and all his bowels gushed out. read more.
And it became known to all the inhabitants of Jerusalem, so that that field is called in their own tongue, Aceldamach, that is, Field of Blood. For it is written in the book of Psalms, "Let his habitation be made desolate, and let no one dwell therein;" and, "Let another take his office."

And there arose a reasoning among them, which of them was greatest. And Jesus knowing the reasoning of their heart, took a child and set him by his side, and said to them, Whoever receiveth this child in my name, receiveth me; and whoever receiveth me, receiveth him who sent me. For he that is least among you all, he is great.

But whoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father who is in heaven. Think not that I came to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword. For I came to set a man at variance with his father, and a daughter with her mother, and a bride with her motherinlaw; read more.
and they of a mans own household will be his foes. He that findeth his life will lose it; and he that loseth his life for my sake will find it. He that receiveth you, receiveth me; and he that receiveth me, receiveth him that sent me. He that receiveth a prophet because he is a prophet, will receive a prophets reward, and he that receiveth a righteous man because he is a righteous man, will receive a righteous mans reward.

At that time the disciples came to Jesus, saying, Who then is greatest in the kingdom of heaven? And he called a child to him, and set him in the midst of them, and said, Truly do I say to you, Unless ye are changed, and become as children, ye will not enter the kingdom of heaven. read more.
Whoever therefore shall humble himself as this child, he is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. And whoever receiveth one such child in my name, receiveth me.

And sitting down, he called the twelve, and saith to them, If any one desire to be first, he will be last of all, and servant of all. And he took a child, and placed him in the midst of them, and taking him in his arms, he said to them, Whoever receiveth one of these children in my name, receiveth me; and whoever receiveth me, receiveth not me, but him that sent me. read more.
John said to him, Teacher, we saw one casting out demons in thy name who followeth not us; and we forbade him, because he did not follow us. But Jesus said, Forbid him not. For no one, who shall do a miracle in my name, can readily speak evil of me.

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made through him; and without him was nothing made that hath been made. read more.
In him is life; and the life was the light of men. And the light hath been shining in the darkness; and the darkness received it not. There was a man, sent from God, whose name was John. He came as a witness, to bear witness of the light, that through him all might believe. He was not the light, but came to bear witness of the light. The true light, which enlighteneth every man, was coming into the world. He was in the world, and the world was made through him, and the world knew him not. He came to his own, and his own received him not. But as many as received him, to them he gave power to become children of God,to those who believed in his name; who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
