And he preached, saying, There cometh after me one mightier than I, the latchet of whose sandals I am not worthy to stoop down and loose. I have baptized you with water; but he will baptize you in the Holy Spirit.
John beareth witness of him, and crieth, saying, This was he of whom I said, He that cometh after me hath gone before me; for he was before me.

And I have seen and have borne witness, that this is the Son of God. On the morrow John was again standing, and two of his disciples; and looking upon Jesus as he was walking, he saith, Behold, the Lamb of God!

John answered and said, A man can receive nothing, unless it be given him from heaven. Ye yourselves bear me witness, that I said, I am not the Christ, but that I was sent before that man. He that hath the bride is the bridegroom; but the friend of the bridegroom, who standeth and heareth him, rejoiceth greatly because of the bridegrooms voice. This my joy then hath become full. He must increase, but I must decrease. He that cometh from above is above all. He that is from the earth is earthly, and speaketh earthly things; he that cometh from heaven testifieth what he hath seen and heard; and no one receiveth his testimony. He that hath received his testimony hath set his seal that God is true. For he whom God sent speaketh the words of God; for he giveth not the Spirit by measure. The Father loveth the Son, and hath given all things into his hand. He that believeth in the Son hath everlasting life; and he that disobeyeth the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abideth on him.

There is another who beareth witness of me; and ye know that the witness which he witnesseth of me is true. Ye have sent to John, and he hath borne witness to the truth.
And many came to him, and said, John indeed wrought no sign; but everything that John said of this man was true.

There was a man, sent from God, whose name was John. He came as a witness, to bear witness of the light, that through him all might believe. He was not the light, but came to bear witness of the light. read more.
The true light, which enlighteneth every man, was coming into the world. He was in the world, and the world was made through him, and the world knew him not. He came to his own, and his own received him not. But as many as received him, to them he gave power to become children of God,to those who believed in his name; who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, full of grace and truth; and we beheld his glory, a glory as of an only begotten of a father.
