After this there was a feast of the Jews: and Jesus went up to Jerusalem. Now there is at Jerusalem by the sheep market a pool, which is called in the Hebrew tongue, Bethesda, having five porches. For an angel went down at a certain season into the pool, and agitated the water: whoever then first after the stirring of the water stepped in, was cured of whatever disease he had. And a certain man was there, who had an infirmity thirty and eight years. When Jesus saw him lying, and knew that he had been now a long time in that case, he saith to him, Wilt thou be healed? The impotent man answered him, Sir, I have no man, when the water is agitated, to put me into the pool: but while I am coming, another steppeth down before me. Jesus saith to him, Rise, take up thy bed, and walk. And immediately the man was healed, and took up his bed, and walked: and on the same day was the sabbath.


And the Jews' passover was at hand, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem,

And it was at Jerusalem the feast of the dedication, and it was winter.

Now when he was in Jerusalem at the passover, in the feast day, many believed in his name, when they saw the miracles which he performed.

And he said to them, I have earnestly desired to eat this passover with you before I suffer.

Now the first day of the feast of unleavened bread, the disciples came to Jesus, saying to him, Where wilt thou that we prepare for thee to eat the passover? And he said, Go into the city to such a man, and say to him, The Master saith, My time is at hand; I will keep the passover at thy house with my disciples. Now when the evening was come, he sat down with the twelve.

Now his parents went to Jerusalem every year at the feast of the passover. And when he was twelve years old, they went up to Jerusalem according to the custom of the feast.

After this there was a feast of the Jews: and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.

But when his brethren had gone up, then he went also to the feast, not openly, but as it were in secret.

For there is no man that doeth any thing in secret, and he himself seeketh to be known openly. If thou doest these things, show thyself to the world. (For neither did his brethren believe in him.) Then Jesus said to them, My time is not yet come: but your time is always ready. The world cannot hate you; but me it hateth, because I testify concerning it, that its works are evil. Go ye up to this feast: I go not yet to this feast, for my time is not yet full come. When he had said these words to them, he abode still in Galilee. And there was much murmuring among the people concerning him: for some said, He is a good man: others said, No; but he deceiveth the people. Yet, no man spoke openly of him, for fear of the Jews. Now about the midst of the feast, Jesus went up into the temple, and taught.

Afterward Jesus findeth him in the temple, and said to him, Behold, thou art cured: sin no more, lest a worse thing come to thee. The man departed, and told the Jews that it was Jesus who had healed him. And therefore the Jews persecuted Jesus, and sought to slay him, because he had done these things on the sabbath.
