The enemy that sowed them is the devil: the harvest is the end of the world; the reapers are the angels. As therefore the darnel are gathered and burnt with fire, so shall it be in the end of this world. And a certain man was there, who had been diseased eight and thirty years. Jesus seeing him lie, and knowing that he had now been diseased a long time, saith to him, Desirest thou to be made whole? The infirm man answered him, Sir, I have no man to put me into the bath, when the water is troubled; and while I am coming, another steppeth down before me. Jesus saith to him, Rise, take up thy bed and walk. And immediately the man was made whole, and took up his bed and walked: and the same day was the sabbath.

Afterward Jesus findeth him in the temple, and said to him, Lo, thou art made whole: sin no more, lest a worse thing come to thee. The man departed and told the Jews, that it was Jesus who had made him whole. And therefore the Jews persecuted Jesus, and sought to kill him, because he had done these things on the sabbath.
