By this ye know the Spirit of God: every spirit who confesseth that Jesus the Messiah is come in the flesh, is from God. However, notwithstanding, many even of the rulers believed on him; but on account of the Pharisees they did not make open profession, lest they should be put out of the synagogues: for they loved honour from men, more than honour from God.
Not every one who saith to me, Lord, Lord! shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father who is in heaven. Many will say unto me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have we not cast out devils? and in thy name done many miracles? And then will I profess unto them, that I never knew you: depart from me, ye workers of iniquity.
Every one therefore who shall make confession of me before men, of him will I also make confession before my Father who is in heaven. But whosoever shall disown me before men, him will I also disown before my Father who is in heaven.
