And the Lord said to him, Put off your shoes from your feet; for the place on which you stand is holy ground. I have seen the affliction of my people in Egypt, and have heard their groaning, and have come down to deliver them; and now come, I will send you to Egypt. This is the Moses whom they denied, saying, Who made you a ruler and a judge? Him did God send to be a ruler and a redeemer by the hand of the angel that appeared to him in the bush.

I indeed baptize you with water to a change of mind; but he that comes after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not fit to bear; he shall baptize you with the Holy Spirit, and fire;

and preached, saying, After me comes one mightier than I, the strings of whose shoes I am not fit to stoop down and untie;

John answered all, saying, I indeed baptize you with water, but a mightier than I is coming, the strings of whose shoes I am not fit to untie; he shall baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.

He is the one coming after me, the strings of whose sandal I am not worthy to untie.

And when John completed his course, he said, Who do you suppose I am? I am not [the Christ]; but behold, there comes after me one the sandal of whose feet I am not worthy to untie.

but to wear sandals, and not to put on two coats.

And the angel said to him, Gird yourself, and tie on your sandals. And he did so. And he said to him, Put your cloak about you, and follow me.

nor a provision sack for the way, nor two coats, nor shoes, nor staves; for the laborer is worthy of his support;

Carry neither a purse, nor provision sack, nor sandals; and salute no one by the way.

and bound your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace;

But the father said to his servants, Bring out the best robe and put on him; and put a ring on his hand, and sandals on his feet;
