Speak, ye that ride on white asses, ye that preside in judgment, and walk by the way.

When he was seated upon the judgment seat, his wife sent unto him, saying, Have thou nothing to do with that just man, for I have suffered many things this day in a dream because of him.

And it came to pass another day that Moses sat to judge the people, and the people stood before Moses from the morning unto the evening.

And for a spirit of judgment to him that sits upon the throne of judgment, and for strength to those that turn the battle to the gate.


Then a Pharisee, named Gamaliel, a doctor of the law, who had a reputation among all the people, stood up in the council and commanded to put the apostles forth a little space and said unto them, Ye men of Israel, take heed to yourselves what ye intend to do as concerning these men. For before these days, rose up Theudas, boasting himself to be somebody; to whom a number of men, about four hundred, joined themselves; who was slain; and all, as many as obeyed him, were scattered and brought to nought. read more.
After this man rose up Judas of Galilee in the days of the taxing and drew away many people after him; he also perished, and all those that consented with him were dispersed. And now I say unto you, Refrain from these men and let them alone; for if this counsellor or this work is of men, it will come to nought, but if it is of God, ye cannot overthrow it; lest ye be found fighting against God. And they agreed with him; and when they had called the apostles and beaten them, they commanded that they should not speak in the name of Jesus and let them go.

Then Festus, when he had conferred with the council, answered, Hast thou appealed unto Caesar? unto Caesar shalt thou go.

And when he had said these things, the king rose up and the governor and Bernice and those that sat with them; and when they were gone aside, they talked between themselves, saying, This man does nothing worthy of death or of bonds.


And he charged them, saying, Ye shall proceed thus in the fear of the LORD, in truth and with a perfect heart.

and said to the judges, Take heed what ye do, for ye do not judge for man, but for the LORD, who is with you in the word of judgment. Therefore, now let the fear of the LORD be upon you; take heed and do it, for there is no iniquity with the LORD our God, nor respect of persons, nor taking of bribes.



The LORD our God spoke unto us in Horeb, saying, Ye have dwelt long enough in this mount;


And Samuel did as the LORD said and came to Bethlehem. And the elders of the town trembled at his coming and said, Comest thou peaceably?

And if the man does not desire to take his brother's wife, then let his brother's wife go up to the gate unto the elders and say, My husband's brother refuses to raise up unto his brother a name in Israel; he will not perform the duty of my husband's brother.



Thou shalt not twist that which is right; thou shalt not respect persons neither take a bribe, for a bribe blinds the eyes of the wise and perverts the words of the righteous.


neither shalt thou honour a poor man in his cause.

Thou shalt not pervert the rights of thy poor in his cause.


and the judges shall make diligent inquisition; and, behold, if the witness is a false witness and has testified falsely against his brother,


Then the high priest rent his clothes, saying, He has spoken blasphemy; what further need have we of witnesses? Behold, now ye have heard his blasphemy. What think ye? They answered and said, He is guilty of death.


These are the things that ye shall do: Speak each one the truth to his neighbour; execute the judgment of truth and peace in your gates;


And in controversy they shall stand to judge; and they shall judge it according to my rights; and they shall keep my laws and my statutes in all my solemn assemblies; and they shall hallow my sabbaths.

When thou goest with thine adversary to the magistrate, as thou art in the way, give diligence that thou may be delivered from him, lest he drag thee away to the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the officer, and the officer cast thee into prison.


commanding his accusers to come unto thee; by examining of whom thou may take knowledge of all these things, of which we accuse him.


Conciliate with thine adversary quickly, whiles thou art in the way with him; lest at any time the adversary deliver thee to the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the officer, and thou be cast into prison.

And I charged your judges at that time, saying, Hear the causes between your brethren and judge righteously between every man and his brother and the stranger that is with him.

And he went from year to year in circuit to Bethel and Gilgal and Mizpeh and judged Israel in all those places.

If one man sins against another, the judges shall judge him, but if someone sins against the LORD, who shall intreat for him? Notwithstanding they did not hearken unto the voice of their father because the LORD had already decided to kill them.

Judges and officers shalt thou make thee in all the gates of thy cities, which the LORD thy God shall give thee throughout thy tribes, and they shall judge the people with just (and righteous) judgment.

And he set judges in the land throughout all the fenced cities of Judah, city by city,

If there is a controversy between persons and they come unto judgment and they are judged, then they shall justify the righteous and condemn the wicked.

And it came to pass another day that Moses sat to judge the people, and the people stood before Moses from the morning unto the evening.

saying, There was in a city a judge who did not fear God nor regard man;
