And it came to pass when Jesus had finished these sayings, he departed from Galilee and came into the regions of Judea beyond the Jordan. And many multitudes followed him and he healed them there.

And he said to them, Compete to enter in by the narrow gate, because many, I say to you, will seek to enter in, and will not be able. From the time the house-ruler has risen up, and has closed the door, and ye begin to stand outside, and to knock the door, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us, and having answered, he will say to you, I know not where ye are from, then ye will begin to say, We ate and drank in thy presence, and thou taught in our thoroughfares. And he will say, I tell you, I know not where ye are from. Depart from me, all ye workmen of unrighteousness. There will be the weeping and the gnashing of teeth, when ye will see Abraham and Isaac and Jacob and all the prophets in the kingdom of God, and you being thrust out. And they will arrive from the east and west, and from the north and south, and will sit down in the kingdom of God. And behold, there are last who will be first, and there are first who will be last. In the same day some Pharisees came, saying to him, Get thee out and depart from here, because Herod wants to kill thee. And he said to them, Having gone, say to this fox, Behold, I cast out demons and finish cures today and tomorrow, and the third day I am fully perfected. Nevertheless it is necessary for me to go today and tomorrow and the following, because it is not possible for a prophet to perish outside of Jerusalem. O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, that kills the prophets, and stones those who are sent to her. How often I wanted to gather thy children together as a hen does her brood under her wings, and ye would not.
