Jesus Christ » History of » Triumphal entry into jerusalem, while the people throw palm branches on the road in front of him
When they came near Jerusalem, at Bethphage and Bethany, near the Mount of Olives, Jesus sent two of his disciples on ahead and told them, "Go into the village ahead of you. As soon as you go into it, you will find a colt tied up that no one has ever ridden. Untie it, and bring it along. If anyone asks you, "Why are you doing this?,' say, "The Lord needs it,' and he will send it back here at once." read more.
So they went and found the colt outside in the street tied up next to a doorway. While they were untying it, some men standing there asked them, "What are you doing untying that colt?" The disciples told them what Jesus had said, and the men let them go. They brought the colt to Jesus, threw their coats on it, and he sat on it. Many people spread their coats on the road, while others spread leafy branches that they had cut in the fields. Those who went ahead and those who followed him were shouting, "Hosanna! How blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord! How blessed is the coming kingdom of our ancestor David! Hosanna in the highest heaven!" Then Jesus went into Jerusalem and into the Temple and looked around at everything. Since it was already late, he went out with the Twelve to Bethany.

Now this happened to fulfill what had been spoken through the prophet when he said, "Tell the daughter of Zion, "Look, your king is coming to you! He is humble and mounted on a donkey, even on a colt of a donkey.'" So the disciples went and did as Jesus had directed them. They brought the donkey and the colt and put their coats on them, and he sat upon them. Many people in the crowd spread their own coats on the road, while others began cutting down branches from the trees and spreading them on the road. Both the crowds that went ahead of him and those that followed him kept shouting, "Hosanna to the Son of David! How blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest heaven!" When he came into Jerusalem, the whole city was trembling with excitement. The people were asking, "Who is this?" The crowds kept saying, "This is the prophet Jesus, the man from Nazareth in Galilee."

So those who were sent went off and found it as Jesus had told them. While they were untying the colt, its owners asked them, "Why are you untying the colt?" The disciples answered, "The Lord needs it." Then they brought the colt to Jesus and put their coats on it, and Jesus sat upon it. Peace in heaven, and glory in the highest heaven!" Some of the Pharisees in the crowd told Jesus, "Teacher, tell your disciples to be quiet." He replied, "I tell you, if they were quiet, the stones would cry out!" When he came closer and saw the city, he began to grieve over it: "If you had only known today what could have brought you peace! But now it is hidden from your sight, because the days will come when your enemies will build walls around you, surround you, and close you in on every side. They will level you to the ground you and those who live within your city limits. They will not leave one stone on another within your walls, because you didn't recognize the time when you were visited."

The next day, the large crowd that had come to the festival heard that Jesus was coming into Jerusalem. So they took branches of palm trees and went out to meet him, shouting, "Hosanna! How blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord, the King of Israel!" Then Jesus found a young donkey and sat upon it, as it is written: read more.
"Stop being afraid, people of Zion. Look, your king is coming, sitting upon a donkey's colt!" At first, his disciples didn't understand these things. However, when Jesus had been glorified, they remembered that these things had been written about him and that people had done these things to him. So the crowd that had been with him when he called Lazarus out of the tomb and raised him from the dead continued to testify to what they had seen. The crowd was going out to meet Jesus because they had heard that he had performed this sign. Then the Pharisees told one another, "You see, there is nothing you can do. Look, the world has gone after him!"

And all the people shouted out loudly in praise to the LORD when the foundation of the LORD's Temple was laid. Now a number of the priests, the Levities, and the leading officials of the elders who were very elderly had seen the former Temple with their own eyes. When they observed the foundation of the Temple being laid, they wept with a loud voice, while the rest of them shouted for joy. As a result, the people couldn't distinguish between the noise coming from the shouts of joy and the noise coming from the weeping people, because everyone was shouting loudly and could be heard a long way off.
They also entered into a covenant to seek the LORD God of their ancestors with all their heart and soul, and they further agreed that whoever would refuse to seek the LORD God of Israel was to be executed, whether important or unimportant, man or woman. They also made a vow to the LORD with loud voices, shouting, trumpets, and horns.

They sang with a loud voice, "Worthy is the lamb who was slaughtered to receive power, wealth, wisdom, strength, honor, glory, and praise!" I heard every creature in heaven, on earth, under the earth, and on the sea, and everything that is in them, saying, "To the one who sits on the throne and to the lamb be praise, honor, glory, and power forever and ever!" Then the four living creatures said, "Amen!", and the elders bowed down and worshipped.
