Then He walked on a few steps and threw Himself upon His face, and in this attitude continued to pray, and say, "My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass by me; and yet, I pray, not what I want but what you want." Then He came back to the disciples and found them asleep. He said to Peter, "Could you not then watch with me a single hour? You must all keep watching and praying that you may not be exposed to temptation. Man's spirit is willing but human nature is weak." A second time He went away and prayed, "My Father, if it cannot pass by without my drinking it, your will be done." He came back again and found them still sleeping, for their eyes were so heavy they could hardly hold them open. Then He left them again and prayed the third time, using the same words. After that He came back to the disciples and said to them: "Still sleeping! Still resting! See! The time has come for the Son of Man to be betrayed into the hands of sinful men! Get up and let us be going. Look! Here comes my betrayer!" Even while He was still speaking, here came Judas, one of the Twelve, and with him a crowd, with swords and clubs, from the high priests and the elders of the people. Now His betrayer had given them a signal by saying, "The one I kiss is He. Seize Him!" And he went straight up to Jesus and said, "Good evening, Rabbi," and affectionately kissed Him. Jesus said to him, "My friend, do what you came for." Then they came up, laid hands on Jesus, and arrested Him.

Take this cup away from me! Yet, I pray, not what I want but what you want!" And He went back and found them asleep, and He said to Peter, "Simon, are you asleep? Could you not watch a single hour? You must all keep watching and praying that you may not be exposed to temptation. Man's spirit is willing but human nature is weak." He went away again and prayed in the same words. When He went back again, He found them asleep again, for their eyes were so heavy they could hardly hold them open; and they did not know what answer to make Him. Get up, let us be going. Look! here comes my betrayer!" Now when He reached the spot, He said to them, "Continue to pray that you may not be subjected to temptation." On saying these things He went out with His disciples across the Ravine of Cedars to a place where there was a garden, and He went into it with His disciples. Now Judas, too, who betrayed Him, knew the spot, because Jesus had often met with His disciples there.

As He was sitting on the Mount of Olives opposite the temple, Peter, James, John, and Andrew, in a private group, were asking Him,

While He was sitting on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came up to Him by themselves, and said, "Tell us when this is to take place, and what will be the sign of your coming and of the end of the age."
