And He came to Nazareth, where He had been brought up; and He went, according to His custom, into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up to read. And there was given to Him a book of the prophet Isaiah; and, opening the book, He found the place where it had been written, "The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me; because He anointed Me to publish good tidings to the poor; He hath sent Me to proclaim release to captives, and recovery of sight to the blind, to send away the crushed in freedom. read more.

And He began to say to them, "To-day has this Scripture been fulfilled in your ears." And He said to them, "Ye will doubtless say to Me this parable, 'Physician, heal Thyself: whatsoever we heard of as done in Capernaum, do also here in Thy own country.'" And He said, "Verily I say to you, no prophet is acceptable in his own country. But of a truth I say to you, there were many widows in Israel in the days of Elijah, when the heaven was shut up three years and six months, when there came a great famine upon all the land; and to no one of them was Elijah sent, except to Zarephath in the land of Sidon, to a woman who was a widow. "And there were many lepers in Israel in the time of Elisha the prophet; and no one of them was cleansed, except Naaman, the Syrian." And all in the synagogue were filled with wrath, on hearing these things; and, rising up, they cast Him forth out of the city, and led Him to the brow of the hill on which their city had been built, to throw Him down headlong; but He, passing through their midst, was going His way. And He came down to Capernaum, a city of Galilee; and He was teaching them on the sabbath;

And, they having departed, behold, an angel of the Lord appears to Joseph in a dream, saying, "Having risen, take the Child and His mother, and flee into Egypt, and be there till I speak to you; for Herod is about to seek the Child to destroy Him."
