In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and apart from Him was not even one thing made that has been made.

And the Word became flesh, and tabernacled among us, (and we beheld His glory??lory as of the Only Begotten from the Father), full of grace and truth.

God, having in many parts and many ways spoken, of old, to the fathers in the prophets, at the end of these days spake to us in His Son, Whom He appointed Heir of all things, through Whom also He constituted the ages;

That which was from the beginning, that which we have heard, that which we have seen with our eyes, that which we gazed upon, and our hands handled, concerning the Word of Life (and the Life was manifested, and we have seen, and bear witness, and declare to you The Eternal Life; Who, indeed, was with the Father, and was manifested to us);

and He is clothed with a garment sprinkled with blood; and His name is called "THE WORD OF GOD."

And many were gathered together, so that there was no longer room, not even about the door; and He was speaking the word to them.

"Every one, therefore, who hears these words of Mine, and does them, shall be likened to a prudent man, who, indeed, built his house upon the rock; and the rain descended, and the streams came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not, for it had been founded on the rock. "And every one who hears these words of Mine, and does them not, shall be likened to a foolish man, who, indeed, built his house upon the sand:read more.

And it came to pass that, when Jesus ended these words, the multitudes were astonished at His teaching; for He was teaching them as One having authority, and not as the scribes.

"Every one who comes to Me, and hears My words, and does them, I will show you to whom he is like: he is like a man building a house, who dug and went deep, and laid a foundation on the rock; and, a flood coming, the stream broke against that house, and could not shake it; because it was well built. But he who heard and did not, is like a man who built a house upon the earth without a foundation; against which the stream broke, and straightway it collapsed; and the ruin of that house was great."

And he that was sown on the rocky places, this is he who hears the word, and straightway with joy receives it; yet he has not root in himself, but is only temporary; and, when tribulation or persecution arises because of the word, straightway he stumbles. And he that was sown among the thorns, this is he that hears the word; and the anxiety of the age and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word, and it becomes unfruitful.read more.
But he that was sown on the good ground, this is he that hears the word and understands it; who, indeed, bears fruit, and produces, some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty."

And He saith to them, "Know ye not this parable? And how will ye know all the parables? The sower sows the word. And these are those by the wayside, where the word is sown; and, when they hear, straightway Satan comes, and catches away the word which has been sown in them.read more.

Now this is the parable: The seed is the word of God. And those by the wayside are those who heard; then the Devil comes, and takes away the word from their heart; lest, having believed, they should be saved. "And those on the rock are those who, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root; who, for a season, believe, and in time of temptation fall away.read more.

But He said, "Yea, rather, happy are those who hear the word of God, and keep it!"

For He Whom God sent speaketh the words of God; for He giveth not the Spirit by measure.

"Verily, verily, I say to you, He that hears My word, and believes Him Who sent Me, has eternal life, and comes not into judgment, but has passed out of death into life.

It is the Spirit That giveth life; the flesh profits nothing: the words which I have spoken to you are spirit, and they are life. But there are some of you who do not believe." For Jesus knew from the beginning who those were that believed not, and who it was that would betray Him. And He said, "For this cause I have said to you, that no one can come to Me, unless it has been given to him of the Father."read more.
From this time many of His disciples went back, and walked no more with Him. Jesus, therefore, said to the twelve, "Do ye also wish to go away?" Simon Peter answered Him, "Lord, to whom shall we go? Thou hast words of eternal life.

Jesus, therefore, said to those Jews who had believed on Him, "If ye abide in My word, ye are truly My disciples; and ye will know the truth, and the truth will make you free."

And, if any one hears My words, and keeps them not, I do not judge him; for I came, not to judge the world, but to save the world. He who rejects Me, and receives not My words, has one that judges him: the word that I spake, the same shall judge him in the last day. For I spake not from Myself; but the Father, Who sent Me, Himself hath given Me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak.read more.
And I know that His commandment is life eternal. What things, therefore, I speak, even as My Father hath told Me, so I speak."

Do you not believe that I am in the Father, and the Father in Me? The words that I say to you, I speak not from Myself; but the Father, abiding in Me, doeth His works. Believe Me, that I am in the Father, and the Father in Me; or, else, believe Me because of the works themselves. Verily, verily, I say to you, he that believes on Me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do, because I go to the Father.read more.
And whatsoever ye shall ask in My name, this will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If ye shall ask anything in My name, I will do it. "If ye love Me, ye will keep My commandments; and I will ask of the Father, and He will give you another Advocate, that He may be with you forever; the Spirit of truth, Whom the world cannot receive, because it beholds Him not, neither knows Him: ye know Him, because He abideth with you, and will be in you. I will not leave you orphans; I am coming to you. Yet a little while, and the world beholds Me no more; but ye behold Me; because I live, ye shall live also. In that day ye will know that I am in My Father, and ye in Me, and I in you. He who has My commandments, and keeps them, he it is that loves Me; and he that loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him, and will manifest Myself to him." Judas, not Iscariot, says to Him, "Lord, what has happened, that Thou art about to manifest Thyself to us, and not to the world?" Jesus answered, and said to him, "If any one loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him, and make Our abode with him. He who loves Me not, keeps not My words; and the word which ye hear is not Mine, but the Father's Who sent Me.

Already ye are clean because of the word which I have spoken to you.

I manifested Thy name to the men whom Thou gavest Me out of the world. Thine they were; and Thou gavest them to Me; and they have kept Thy word. Now they have known that all things whatsoever Thou gavest Me are from Thee; because the words which Thou gavest Me I have given to them, and they received them, and knew truly that I came forth from Thee, and believed that Thou didst send Me.

And, when they had prayed, the place in which they had assembled was shaken; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and were speaking the word of God with boldness.

And now, Lord, look upon their threatenings; and grant to Thy servants to speak Thy word with all boldness,

And, on the next sabbath, almost the whole city was gathered together to hear the word of God. But the Jews, seeing the multitudes, were filled with jealousy, and contradicted the things spoken by Paul, blaspheming. Speaking boldly, both Paul and Barnabas said, "It was necessary that the word of God should first be spoken to you. Inasmuch as ye thrust it away from you, and judge yourselves unworthy of eternal life, behold, we turn to the gentiles;

And this continued for two years; so that all those dwelling in Asia heard the word of the Lord, both Jews and Greeks.

But I make not my soul of any value as dear to myself, so that I may accomplish my course, and the ministry which I received from the Lord Jesus, to fully testify the Gospel of the grace of God.

But what does it say? The word is near you, in your mouth, and in your heart; that is, the word of faith, which we preach; that if you shall confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and shall believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved; for with the heart man believes unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

because of the hope laid up for you in Heaven, of which ye heard before in the word of the truth of the Gospel,

that their hearts may he comforted, they being knit together in love, and unto all riches of the full assurance of the understanding, unto the full knowledge of the mystery of God, even Christ,

because our Gospel came not to you in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Spirit, and in much assurance; even as ye know what manner of men we became toward you, for your sake.

For, indeed, we have had the Gospel proclaimed to us, even as also they; but the word which they heard did not profit them, not having been mingled with faith on the part of those who heard.

But He, answering, said, "It has been written, 'Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God.'"

Jesus answered, and said to him, "If any one loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him, and make Our abode with him. He who loves Me not, keeps not My words; and the word which ye hear is not Mine, but the Father's Who sent Me.

Sanctify them in the truth; Thy word is truth.

And receive the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:

For the word of God is living, and effectual, and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing even to a dividing of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments; and His commandments are not burdensome;

And I say to you, that every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account concerning it in the day of judgment; for by your words you shall be justified, and by your words you shall be condemned."

My brethren, become not many of you teachers, knowing that we shall receive the greater judgment. For in many things we all stumble. If anyone stumbles not in word, the same is a perfect man, able to restrain also the whole body. Now, if we put the horses' bridles into their mouths, that they may obey us, we turn about their whole body also.read more.
Behold also the ships, large as they are, and driven along by fierce winds, are turned about by a very small rudder, wheresoever the impulse of the steersman wills. So also the tongue is a little member, and boasts great things. Behold, how small a fire kindles how great a forest! And the tongue is a fire, the world of iniquity! the tongue is placed among our members, as that which defiles the whole body, and sets on fire the course of life, and is set on fire by Hell. For every nature, both of wild beasts and birds, both of creeping things and things in the sea, is tamed, and has been tamed, by mankind; but the tongue no man can tame; a restless evil, full of deadly poison! Therewith we bless the Lord and Father; and therewith we curse men, who have been made after the likeness of God. Out of the same mouth come forth blessing and cursing! My brethren, these things ought not so to be. Does the fountain send forth, from the same opening, the sweet water and the bitter, My brethren, can a fig tree produce olives; or a vine, figs? Neither can salt water yield sweet.
