For God said, 'Honour thy father and thy mother'; and 'Let him who reviles father or mother be certainly put to death'; read more.

(For the Pharisees and all the Jews--being, as they are, zealous for the traditions of the Elders--never eat without first carefully washing their hands, and when they come from market they will not eat without bathing first; and they have a good many other customs which they have received traditionally and cling to, such as the rinsing of cups and pots and of bronze utensils, and the washing of beds.) Then Jesus said to them, "I put it to you all whether we are allowed to do good on the Sabbath, or to do evil; to save a life, or to destroy it." And looking round upon them all He said to the man, "Stretch out your arm." He did so, and the arm was restored. But they were filled with madness, and began to discuss with one another what they should do to Jesus.
