Luke 7:1 (show verse)
WHEN he had finished all his discourses in the hearing of the people, he entered into Capernaum.
Luke 7:2 (show verse)
And a certain centurion's servant, who was dear to him, was sick, and about to die;
Luke 7:3 (show verse)
and he hearing of Jesus, sent to him the elders of the Jews, asking him to come and cure his servant.
Luke 7:4 (show verse)
And having come to Jesus they besought him earnestly, saying, He is worthy for whom you should do this;
Luke 7:5 (show verse)
for he loves our nation, and has built us a synagogue.
Luke 7:6 (show verse)
And Jesus went with them. And when he was now not far from the house, the centurion sent friends to him, saying, Lord, trouble not yourself, for I am not fit that you should come under my roof.

Wherefore I did not think myself worthy to come to you; but say the word, and my servant shall be cured;
Luke 7:8 (show verse)
for I also am a man placed under authority, having soldiers under me, and I say to one, Go, and he goes, and to another, Come, and he comes; and to my servant, Do this, and he does it.
Luke 7:9 (show verse)
And Jesus hearing these things wondered at him, and turning around said to the multitude following him, I tell you I have not found in Israel so great a faith;

and those sent returning to the house found the sick servant well.
Luke 7:11 (show verse)
And on the next day he went to a city called Nain, and a considerable number of his disciples and a great multitude went with him.
Luke 7:12 (show verse)
And as he approached the gate of the city, behold, a dead man was carried out, an only son of his mother, and she was a widow. And a great multitude from the city was with her.

And seeing her, the Lord had compassion on her, and said to her, Weep not.
Luke 7:14 (show verse)
And approaching he touched the bier, and those who bore it stopped. And he said, Young man, I tell you, arise!
Luke 7:15 (show verse)
And the dead sat up, and began to speak; and he gave him to his mother.
Luke 7:16 (show verse)
And fear seized all; and they glorified God, saying, A great prophet is raised up among us; and, God has visited his people.
Luke 7:17 (show verse)
And this report of him went out into all Judea, and into all the region around.
Luke 7:18 (show verse)
And his disciples told John of all these things.
Luke 7:19 (show verse)
And calling two of his disciples, John sent to the Lord, saying, Are you he that was to come, or look we for another?
Luke 7:20 (show verse)
And coming to him the men said, John the Baptist has sent us to you to say, Are you he that was to come, or look we for another?
Luke 7:21 (show verse)
And in that hour he cured many of diseases, and plagues, and of evil spirits, and gave sight to many blind.
Luke 7:22 (show verse)
And Jesus answered and said to them, Go and tell John what you have seen and heard; that the blind see, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and the poor have the good news preached to them;

and blessed is he who shall not be offended with me.
Luke 7:24 (show verse)
And when the messengers of John had gone away, he said to the multitudes concerning John, What went you out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken with a wind?
Luke 7:25 (show verse)
But what went you out to see? A man dressed in fine clothes? Behold, those who wear fine clothes, and live in luxury, are in royal palaces.
Luke 7:26 (show verse)
But what went you out to see? A prophet? Yes, I tell you, and more than a prophet.
Luke 7:27 (show verse)
This is he of whom it is written; Behold, I send my messenger before your face, who shall prepare your way before you.
Luke 7:28 (show verse)
I tell you, that among those born of women there is no greater prophet than John; but the least in the kingdom of God is greater than he.

And all the people who heard this, and the publicans, justified God, having received the baptism of John.
Luke 7:30 (show verse)
But the Pharisees and lawyers rejected the counsel of God as to themselves, not having been baptized by him.

[And he said], To what then shall I compare the men of this generation? and what are they like?

They are like little children sitting in the market, and they call to each other, saying, We have played on pipes to you, and you have not danced; we have mourned to you, and you have not lamented.
Luke 7:33 (show verse)
For John the Baptist came neither eating bread nor drinking wine, and you say, He has a demon.
Luke 7:34 (show verse)
The Son of man has come eating and drinking, and you say, Behold a glutton and a wine drinker! a friend of publicans and sinners!

And Wisdom is justified by all her children.
Luke 7:36 (show verse)
AND one of the Pharisees asked him to eat with him; and going into the Pharisee's house he reclined.
Luke 7:37 (show verse)
And behold, a certain woman in the city, a sinner, knowing that he was reclining in the house of the Pharisee, brought a vase of ointment,
Luke 7:38 (show verse)
and standing behind, by his feet, weeping, washed his feet with tears, and wiped them with the hairs of her head; and she kissed his feet, and anointed them with the ointment.
Luke 7:39 (show verse)
And the Pharisee who invited him, seeing it, spoke within himself, saying, If this was a prophet he would have known who and what kind of a woman this is who touches him; for she is a sinner.
Luke 7:40 (show verse)
And Jesus answered and said to him, Simon, I have something to say to you. And he said, Teacher, say it.
Luke 7:41 (show verse)
A certain creditor had two debtors; one owed him five hundred denarii [$70], and the other fifty [$7].
Luke 7:42 (show verse)
And having nothing to pay, he gave [the debt] to both. Tell me, therefore, which of them will love him most?
Luke 7:43 (show verse)
Simon answered and said, I suppose the one to whom he gave most. And he said to him, You have judged rightly.
Luke 7:44 (show verse)
And turning to the woman, he said to Simon, Do you see this woman? I came into your house; you gave me no water for my feet; but she has wet my feet with tears, and wiped them with her hairs.
Luke 7:45 (show verse)
You gave me no kiss; but she, from the time that I came in, has not ceased to kiss my feet.
Luke 7:46 (show verse)
You anointed not my head with oil; but she has anointed my feet with ointment.
Luke 7:47 (show verse)
Therefore, I tell you, her sins, which are many, are forgiven; for she has loved much; but he to whom little is forgiven, loves little.
Luke 7:48 (show verse)
And he said to her, Your sins are forgiven.
Luke 7:49 (show verse)
And those who reclined with him said within themselves, Who is this that forgives sins also?
Luke 7:50 (show verse)
And he said to the woman, Your faith has saved you; go in peace.
