A certain creditor had two debtors; one owed him five hundred denarii [$70], and the other fifty [$7]. And having nothing to pay, he gave [the debt] to both. Tell me, therefore, which of them will love him most? Simon answered and said, I suppose the one to whom he gave most. And he said to him, You have judged rightly. And turning to the woman, he said to Simon, Do you see this woman? I came into your house; you gave me no water for my feet; but she has wet my feet with tears, and wiped them with her hairs. You gave me no kiss; but she, from the time that I came in, has not ceased to kiss my feet. You anointed not my head with oil; but she has anointed my feet with ointment. Therefore, I tell you, her sins, which are many, are forgiven; for she has loved much; but he to whom little is forgiven, loves little. And he said to her, Your sins are forgiven.

They said this to try him, that they might have something of which to accuse him. But Jesus, stooping down, wrote with his finger on the ground. And when they continued asking him, rising up, he said to them, Let him that has not sinned among you first cast the stone at her. And again stooping down he wrote on the ground. But they hearing, and being convicted by their consciences, went out, one by one, beginning with the oldest, even to the last; and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst. And Jesus rising up and seeing no one but the woman, said to her, Woman, where are those your accusers? Has no man condemned you? And she said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said to her, Neither do I condemn you; go, and sin no more.
