Now after the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary, to see the sepulchre. And for fear of him the guards trembled, and became as dead men. But the angel answering said to the women, Fear not ye; for I know ye seek Jesus who was crucified. He is not here; for he is risen, as he said: come, see the place where the Lord lay. And go quickly and tell the disciples, that he is risen from the dead. And behold, he goeth before you into Galilee; there shall ye see him. Lo, I have told you. And departing quickly from the sepulchre with fear and great joy they ran to tell his disciples. And behold Jesus met them and said, Hail. And they came, and took hold of his feet and worshiped him.

And the women who had come with him from Galilee, following after, beheld the sepulchre, and how his body was laid. And returning they prepared spices and ointments, and rested the sabbath, according to the commandment.
