Then they came again to Jerusalem. And as he was walking in the temple, the chief priests, the scribes, and the elders came to him. And they said to him, "By what authority are you doing these things? Who gave you this authority to do them?" Jesus said to them, "I will ask you one question; answer me, and I will tell you by what authority I do these things. read more.

And Jesus said to them, "Neither will I tell you by what authority I do these things."

And Jesus said, while he taught in the temple, "How is it that the scribes say that the Christ is the Son of David? David himself, speaking by the Holy Spirit, declared: 'The Lord said to my Lord: "Sit at my right hand till I put your enemies under your feet."' Therefore David himself calls him 'Lord'; how is he then his son?" And the common people heard him gladly. read more.
And in his teaching he said, "Beware of the scribes, who like to go around in long robes, and to have salutations in the market places and the best seats in the synagogues and the places of honor at feasts, who devour widows' houses and for a pretense make long prayers. They will receive the greater condemnation." And Jesus sat down opposite the treasury, and watched the multitude putting money into the treasury. Many people who were rich put in large sums. And a poor widow came, and put in two copper coins, which make a penny. And he called his disciples to him, and said to them, "Truly, I say to you, this poor widow has put in more than all those who are contributing to the treasury. For they all put in out of their abundance, but she out of her poverty put in everythingall she had to live on."

Afterward, Jesus found him in the temple, and said to him, "See, you are well. Sin no more, so that nothing worse may happen to you." The man went away and told the Jews that it was Jesus who had made him well. For this reason the Jews persecuted Jesus, because he was doing these things on the Sabbath. read more.
But Jesus answered them, "My Father is working still, and I am working."

Now about the middle of the feast Jesus went up into the temple and taught. And the Jews marveled, saying, "How did this man get such learning, having never studied?" Jesus answered them, "My teaching is not mine, but his who sent me. read more.
If anyone is willing to do his will, he shall know whether the teaching is from God or whether I speak on my own authority. He who speaks from himself seeks his own glory; but he who seeks the glory of the One who sent him is true, and in him there is no falsehood. Did not Moses give you the law? Yet none of you keeps the law. Why do you seek to kill me?" The people answered, "You have a demon. Who is seeking to kill you?" Jesus answered them, "I did one deed, and you all marvel. Moses therefore gave you circumcision (not that it is from Moses, but from the fathers), and you circumcise a man on the Sabbath. If on the Sabbath a man receives circumcision, so that the law of Moses may not be broken, are you angry with me because on the Sabbath I made a man's whole body well? Do not judge by appearances, but judge with right judgment." Then some of the people of Jerusalem said, "Is not this the man whom they seek to kill? Here he is, speaking publicly, and they say nothing to him! Can it be that the authorities really know that he is the Christ? But we know where this man is from; when the Christ comes, no one will know where he is from." Then Jesus cried out, as he taught in the temple, "You know me, and you know where I am from; and I have not come on my own, but he who sent me is true, and him you do not know.

and Jesus was in the temple, walking in Solomon's Porch. So the Jews gathered round him and said to him, "How long will you keep us in suspense? If you are the Christ, tell us plainly." but you do not believe, because you are not of my sheep. My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one shall snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of my Father's hand. I and the Father are one." The Jews took up stones again to stone him. Jesus answered them, "I have shown you many good works from the Father. For which of these do you stone me?" The Jews answered him, "For a good work we do not stone you, but for blasphemy, and because you, being a man, make yourself God." Jesus answered them, "Is it not written in your law, 'I said, you are gods'? If he called them gods, to whom the word of God came (and the Scripture cannot be broken), do you say of him whom the Father sanctified and sent into the world, 'You are blaspheming,' because I said, 'I am the Son of God'? If I do not do the works of my father, do not believe me; but if I do them, even though you do not believe me, believe the works, that you may know and understand that the Father is in me, and I am in the Father."
