So they are no longer two, but one flesh. What God has joined, then, man must not separate." They said to him, "Then why did Moses lay it down that we were to divorce by giving a separation-notice?" Let anyone practice it for whom it is practicable."

So they are no longer two, but one flesh. What God has joined, then, man must not separate." Indoors, the disciples again asked him about this, and he said to them, "Whoever divorces his wife and marries another woman is an adulterer to the former, and she is an adulteress if she divorces her husband and marries another man."

But Jesus detected their malice. He said, "Why do you tempt me, you hypocrites? Show me the coin for taxes." So they brought him a shilling. Then Jesus said to them, "Whose likeness, whose inscription is this?" "Caesar's," they said. Then he told them, "Give Caesar what belongs to Caesar, give God what belongs to God."
