God spoke all these words: I am Jehovah your God, who brought you out of slavery in Egypt. Do not have any other god. read more.
Do not make your own carved idols or statues that represent any creature in the sky, on the earth, or in the water. Do not worship them or serve them. I, Jehovah your God, am a God demanding exclusive devotion. (I do not tolerate rivals.) I will not share your affection with any other god. I punish children for their parents' sins to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me. I show mercy (loving kindness) to thousands of generations of those who love me and obey my commandments. Never use the name of Jehovah your God in a false and evil way. Jehovah will make sure that anyone who is false, evil, careless and vain with his name will be punished. Remember the Sabbath day and keep it holy. You have six days to do all your work. The seventh day is a Sabbath dedicated to Jehovah your God. Do not do any work, you or your son or your daughter, your male or your female servant or your cattle or your sojourner who stays with you. Jehovah made the heavens and the earth, the sea and all that is in them in six days. He rested on the seventh day. Therefore Jehovah blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy. Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be prolonged in the land Jehovah your God gives you. Do not murder. Do not commit adultery. Do not steal. Do not (lie) accuse anyone falsely. Do not covet (desire) another man's house. Do not desire his wife, his slaves, his cattle, his donkeys, or anything else that he owns.

Do not have any other god but me. Do not make for yourself an idol in the form of anything in heaven above, or on the earth below, or that is in the waters beneath the earth: Do not bow down to them. Do not serve them! For I Jehovah your God am a totally demanding zealous God. I require exclusive devotion and punish the fathers and children who hate me to the third and fourth generation. read more.
I show loving kindness to thousands of generations who love me and obey my commandments. Do not take the name of Jehovah your God in vain. Jehovah will not leave him unpunished who takes his name in vain. Keep the Sabbath day to sanctify it (keep it holy), as Jehovah your God has commanded you. Do all your work in six days. The seventh day is the Sabbath of Jehovah your God: in it you should not do any work. Your son and daughter should not work. Your manservant and maidservant should not work. Your ox, donkey, cattle or any stranger living with you should not work. Your manservant and maidservant should rest as much as you do. Remember that you were servants in the land of Egypt, and that Jehovah your God brought you out through a mighty act. Jehovah your God commanded you to keep the Sabbath day. Honor your father and your mother, as Jehovah your God commands you and your days will be prolonged and things will go well with you, in the land Jehovah gives you. Do not kill. Do not commit adultery. Do not steal. Do not bear false witness against another man. Do not desire another man's wife; do not covet another man's house, his field, or his manservant, or his maidservant, his ox, or his donkey, or any thing that belongs to him.'

The man replied: Which law? And Jesus said: Do not murder, do not commit adultery, do not steal, do not give false witness, Honor your father and your mother, and Love your neighbor as yourself.

The Pharisees assembled together when they heard that he had put the Sadducees to silence. One of them, a lawyer, tested him by asking a question. Teacher what is the greatest commandment in the law? read more.
Jesus told him: You shall love Jehovah your God with all your heart (Greek: kardia: feelings, emotions), and with all your being, and with your entire mind (Greek: dianoia: understanding). (Deuteronomy 6:5) This is the greatest and first commandment. The second like it is this: 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' The law and the prophets are based on these two commandments.

A lawyer stood up to test him. He asked: Teacher what shall I do to inherit everlasting life? He said: What is written in the law? How do you read it? He answered: Love Jehovah your God with all your heart and with all your life, with all your strength and with all your mind. (Feelings and total existence) (Might and total thinking capacity) And you should love your neighbor as yourself. (Deuteronomy 6:5) (Leviticus 19:18) read more.
He told him: You answered correctly, do this and you will live.

Owe no man any thing but to love one another. He that loves another has fulfilled (obeyed) the law. For the Law code says: You must not commit adultery, you must not murder, you must not steal, you must not bear false witness, and you must not covet. If there is any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying; namely, you must love your neighbor as yourself. Love works no ill to his neighbor. Therefore love is the law's fulfillment.

One of the other scribes came to him with a question: What commandment is the first of all? Jesus answered: The first is, Hear, O Israel; Jehovah our God is one God (Jehovah). You should love Jehovah your God with all your heart, and with all your being (with every breath you take) (your life), with your entire mind and with all your strength. (Deuteronomy 6:4) read more.
The second is you should love your neighbor as yourself. No other commandment is greater than these. (Leviticus 19:18) The scribe said to him: It is true teacher you've said it well that he is one and there is no one else besides him. To love him with all the heart, and with all understanding, and with total strength, and to love his neighbor as himself, is much more than all the whole burnt offerings and sacrifices. When Jesus saw that he answered intelligently he said to him: You are not far from the kingdom of God. No man dared ask any questions after that.

Sadducees say that there is no resurrection. They came to him to ask a question: Teacher, Moses wrote that if a man's brother die, and leave a wife behind him, and leave no child, that his brother should take his wife, and raise up seed for his brother. There were seven brothers the first took a wife, and dying left no seed. read more.
The second took her, and died, leaving no seed behind him. The third also died without leaving a seed. The seven left no seed. The woman also died. In the resurrection whose wife shall she be of them? For each of the seven had her as wife. Jesus replied: Is it not for this cause that you err? You do not know the scriptures or the power of God. For when they shall rise from the dead, they neither marry, nor are given in marriage; but are as angels in heaven. It is a fact that the dead will be raised again. Have you not read the account of the burning bush in the book of Moses? Did you notice how God spoke to him, saying: I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob? He is not the God of the dead but of the living. You are greatly mistaken.

Some Sadducees came to him. They believe there is no resurrection. They asked him: Teacher, Moses wrote if a man's brother dies and he is childless, his brother should take the wife, and raise up seed for his brother. There were seven brothers. The first took a wife, and died childless. read more.
The same for the second. The third married her. The remaining of the seven also married her, left no children and died. Afterward the woman also died. In the resurrection whose wife shall she be? All seven married her. Jesus said, The sons of this age marry, and are given in marriage. Those accounted worthy to attain to that age and the resurrection from the dead, neither marry, nor are given in marriage. They cannot die anymore for they are equal to the angels. They are sons of God, being sons of the resurrection. Even Moses showed that the dead are raised when he was near the bush and he called Jehovah the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. (Exodus 3:6-14) He is not the God of the dead, but of the living: for all live for him. Some of the scribes answered, Teacher you have said well. They did not dare to ask any more questions.

That same day, Sadducees came to him. They believe there is no resurrection. They asked him a question. Teacher, Moses said if a man dies having no children, his brother should marry his wife, and bring up seed for his brother. There were seven brothers. The first married and died, and having no children, left his wife to his brother. read more.
The same happened to the second, right on through the seventh. After that the woman died. In the resurrection, with which of the seven will she be married? All seven had her. Jesus answered: You are mistaken! You do not know the scriptures or the power of God. In the resurrection they will not marry nor be given in marriage. They will be like the angels in heaven. Concerning the resurrection of the dead, have you read that which was spoken to you by God? God said: 'I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.' God is not the God of the dead, but of the living! When many people heard it, they were astonished at his teaching. The Pharisees assembled together when they heard that he had put the Sadducees to silence.

When he said this dissension arose between the Pharisees and the Sadducees. The crowd was divided. The Sadducees say that there is no resurrection, neither angel, nor spirit. The Pharisees believe both.
