Next, a dumb man possessed with a demon was brought to him. When the demon was cast out, the dumb man spoke. The crowd marveled, saying: We have never seen anything like this in Israel!
Someone possessed with a demon, blind and dumb was brought to him. He healed him and the dumb man spoke and could see. The crowds were amazed, and said: Can this be the son of David?
Jehovah said to him: Who has made man's mouth? Or who makes him mute or deaf, or seeing or blind? Is it not I, Jehovah? Now then go, and I, even I, will be with your mouth. I will teach you what you are to say.
You will be without voice or language till the day when these things happen. Your lack of faith in what I say has caused this.
Moses said: O Jehovah I am not a man of words. I have never been so, and am not now, even after what you have said to your servant. Talking is hard for me, and I am slow of tongue.
Immediately his tongue loosed, his mouth opened and he spoke, blessing God.
I will make your tongue stick to the roof of your mouth so that you cannot talk or criticize them, even though they are rebellious people.
You know that you were of the nations, carried away and led by mute idols.
But the king will find joy in God. Everyone who takes an oath by God will speak praise, but the mouths of liars will be shut.
The righteous will see this and rejoice, but all the wicked will shut their mouths.
We know that whatever the law says, it speaks to those under the law. Every mouth may be stopped and the entire world may become liable to God for punishment.
It is God's will that you do the right things and that this will silence the ignorance of foolish men.
But I am like some one deaf and speechless. I am like one who cannot hear and who can offer no arguments.
