Folly is joy to him that is destitute of wisdom: but a man of understanding walketh uprightly.



That the triumphing of the wicked is short, and the joy of the hypocrite but for a moment?

And whatsoever mine eyes desired I kept not from them, I withheld not my heart from any joy; for my heart rejoiced in all my labour: and this was my portion of all my labour.

For as the crackling of thorns under a pot, so is the laughter of the fool: this also is vanity.

And gladness is taken away, and joy out of the plentiful field; and in the vineyards there shall be no singing, neither shall there be shouting: the treaders shall tread out no wine in their presses; I have made their vintage shouting to cease.

Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness.

But if a man live many years, and rejoice in them all; yet let him remember the days of darkness; for they shall be many. All that cometh is vanity. Rejoice, O young man, in thy youth; and let thy heart cheer thee in the days of thy youth, and walk in the ways of thine heart, and in the sight of thine eyes: but know thou, that for all these things God will bring thee into judgment.
