Judgments are prepared for scoffers, And stripes for the back of fools.
And Pilate, wishing to content the multitude, released unto them Barabbas, and delivered Jesus, when he had scourged him, to be crucified.
the chief captain commanded him be brought into the castle, bidding that he should be examined by scourging, that he might know for what cause they so shouted against him.
They then that were about to examine him straightway departed from him: and the chief captain also was afraid when he knew that he was a Roman, and because he had bound him.
And whosoever lieth carnally with a woman, that is a bondmaid, betrothed to a husband, and not at all redeemed, nor freedom given her; they shall be punished; they shall not be put to death, because she was not free.
Then released he unto them Barabbas; but Jesus he scourged and delivered to be crucified.
Then Pilate therefore took Jesus, and scourged him.
and it shall be, if the wicked man be worthy to be beaten, that the judge shall cause him to lie down, and to be beaten before his face, according to his wickedness, by number. Forty stripes he may give him, he shall not exceed; lest, if he should exceed, and beat him above these with many stripes, then thy brother should seem vile unto thee.

Better is open rebuke Than love that is hidden.
A rebuke entereth deeper into one that hath understanding Than a hundred stripes into a fool.
It is better to hear the rebuke of the wise, than for a man to hear the song of fools.
