Judas » Foretold
Then Judas, who betrayed Him, seeing that He was condemned, repenting, brought back the thirty pieces of silver to the high priests and the elders, saying, "I sinned, having betrayed innocent blood." But they said, "What is that to us? You may see to that." And, throwing the pieces of silver into the temple, he withdrew; and, going away, he hanged himself. read more.
And the high priests, taking the pieces of silver, said, "It is not lawful to cast them into the treasury, since it is the price of blood." And, taking counsel, they bought with them the field of the potter, for a burial-place for the strangers. Wherefore, that field was called "A field of blood" until this day. Then was fulfilled that spoken through Jeremiah the prophet, saying, "And they took the thirty pieces of silver, the price of Him Who was priced, Whom some of the sons of Israel priced, and gave them for the potter's field, as the Lord directed me."

Jesus saith to him, "He who has bathed has no need, except to wash his feet, but is wholly clean; and ye are clean, but not all;" for He knew him who would betray Him; on this account, He said, "Ye are not all clean." When, therefore, He washed their feet, and took His garments, and reclined again, He said to them, "Do ye know what I have done to you? read more.
Ye call Me 'The Teacher,' and 'The Lord;' and ye say well; for so I am. If, therefore, I, 'The Lord,' and 'The Teacher,' washed your feet, ye also ought to wash one another's feet; for I gave you an example, that, as I did to you, ye also should do. Verily, verily, I say to you, a servant is not greater than his lord, nor one who is sent greater than he who sent him. If ye know these things, happy are ye, if ye do them. I speak not concerning all of you: I know whom I chose; but, that the Scripture may be fulfilled, 'He that eats My bread lifted up his heel against Me.'

Jesus spake these things; and, lifting up His eyes to Heaven, said, "Father, the hour has come; glorify Thy Son, that the Son may glorify Thee; even as Thou gavest Him authority over all flesh, that to all Whom Thou hast given Him He should give eternal life. And this is the eternal life, that they know Thee, the only true God, and Jesus Christ Whom Thou didst send. read more.
I glorified Thee on the earth; having completed the work which Thou hast given Me to do. And, now, Father, glorify Thou Me with Thine Own Self, with the glory which I had with Thee before the world was. I manifested Thy name to the men whom Thou gavest Me out of the world. Thine they were; and Thou gavest them to Me; and they have kept Thy word. Now they have known that all things whatsoever Thou gavest Me are from Thee; because the words which Thou gavest Me I have given to them, and they received them, and knew truly that I came forth from Thee, and believed that Thou didst send Me. I pray for them: I pray not for the world, but for those whom Thou hast given Me; because they are Thine. And all Mine are Thine, and Thine are Mine; and I am glorified in them. And I am no longer in the world; and these are in the world, and I come to Thee. Holy Father, keep, in Thine Own name, those whom Thou hast given Me, that they may be one, even as we are. While I was with them, I was keeping, in Thy name, those Whom Thou hast given Me; and I guarded them, and no one of them perished, except the son of perdition, that the Scripture might be fulfilled.

"Brethren, it was necessary that the Scripture should be fulfilled, which the Holy Spirit spake beforehand, through the mouth of David, concerning Judas, who became guide to those who arrested Jesus; because he was numbered among us, and obtained the portion of this ministry. This man, therefore, acquired a field with the reward of unrighteousness; and, falling headlong, he burst asunder in the midst, and all his bowels gushed out; read more.
and it became known to all those dwelling at Jerusalem; so that place was called, in their own language, Akeldama, that is, 'Field of blood.' For it has been written in a book of Psalms, 'Let his habitation become desolate, and let no one dwell in it.' And, 'His charge, let another take.'
