For I have eaten ashes like bread, and mingled my drink with weeping, Because of thy indignation and thy wrath: for thou hast lifted me up, and cast me down.

If his children forsake my law, and walk not in my judgments; If they break my statutes, and keep not my commandments; Then will I visit their transgression with the rod, and their iniquity with stripes.

For we are consumed by thy anger, and by thy wrath are we troubled. Thou hast set our iniquities before thee, our secret sins in the light of thy countenance. For all our days are passed away in thy wrath: we spend our years, as a tale that is told.
