Without consulting Me,
To take refuge in the safety of Pharaoh
And to seek shelter in the shadow of Egypt!

He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High
Will abide in the shadow of the Almighty.

Like streams of water in a dry country,
Like the shade of a huge rock in a parched land.

Thus says the Lord God, “I will also take a sprig from the lofty top of the cedar and set it out; I will pluck from the topmost of its young twigs a tender one and I will plant it on a high and lofty mountain. On the high mountain of Israel I will plant it, that it may bring forth boughs and bear fruit and become a stately cedar. And birds of every kind will nest under it; they will nest in the shade of its branches.
For we are sojourners before You, and tenants, as all our fathers were; our days on the earth are like a shadow, and there is no hope.

The land of utter gloom as darkness itself,
Of deep shadow without order,
And which shines as the darkness.”
Every good thing given and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shifting shadow.

The people who walk in darkness
Will see a great light;
Those who live in a dark land,
The light will shine on them.
“Arise, shine; for your light has come,
And the glory of the Lord has risen upon you.
“For behold, darkness will cover the earth
And deep darkness the peoples;
But the Lord will rise upon you
And His glory will appear upon you.
To shine upon those who sit in darkness and the shadow of death,
To guide our feet into the way of peace.”
Therefore no one is to act as your judge in regard to food or drink or in respect to a festival or a new moon or a Sabbath day— things which are a mere shadow of what is to come; but the substance belongs to Christ.
