Behold, thou dost trust in the staff of this broken reed, on Egypt upon which if a man leans, it will go into his hand and pierce it, so is Pharaoh king of Egypt to all that trust in him.

And all the inhabitants of Egypt shall know that I am the LORD, because they have been a staff of reed to the house of Israel.

For the LORD shall smite Israel as a reed is shaken in the water, and he shall root up Israel out of this good land, which he had given to their fathers, and shall scatter them beyond the river because they have made their groves, provoking the LORD to anger.

Now, behold, thou dost trust upon the staff of this bruised reed, even upon Egypt, on which if a man leans, it will go into his hand and pierce it; so is Pharaoh, king of Egypt unto all that trust in him.

And as they departed, Jesus began to say unto the multitudes concerning John, What did you go out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken with the wind?


And there was given me a reed like unto a rod, and he said unto me, Rise and measure the temple of God and the altar and those that worship therein.

Moreover, when ye shall divide by lot the land for inheritance, ye shall separate a lot for the LORD of the land which ye shall consecrate: the length shall be the length of twenty-five thousand reeds, and the breadth shall be ten thousand. This shall be holy in all its borders round about.

And he brought me there, and, behold, there was a man, whose appearance was like the appearance of brass, with a line of flax in his hand, and a measuring reed; and he stood in the gate. And the man said unto me, Son of man, behold with thine eyes and hear with thine ears and set thine heart upon all that I show thee for to the intent that I might show them unto thee art thou brought here: declare all that thou dost see to the house of Israel. And behold a wall on the outside of the house, and the measuring reed which that man had in his hand, was six cubits long, of a cubit and a hand breadth; so he measured the breadth of the building, one reed; and the height, one reed. read more.
Then he came unto the gate which looks toward the east and went up the stairs thereof and measured the post of the gate, which was one reed broad; and the other post of the gate, which was one reed broad. And each chamber was one reed long and one reed broad; and between the chambers were five cubits; and each post of the gate by the porch of the gate within was one reed. He also measured the porch of the gate within, one reed.

I saw also the height of the house round about; the foundations of the chambers were a full reed of six great cubits.

He measured the east side with the measuring reed, five hundred reeds with the measuring reed round about. He measured the north side, five hundred reeds with the measuring reed round about. He measured the south side, five hundred reeds with the measuring reed. read more.
He turned about to the west side, and measured five hundred reeds with the measuring reed.

And he that talked with me had a golden reed to measure the city and its gates and its wall. And the city lies foursquare, and the length is as large as the breadth; and he measured the city with the reed, twelve thousand furlongs; and the length and the breadth and the height of it are equal.


And they shall turn the rivers far away, and the brooks of defence shall be emptied and dried up; the reeds and flags shall wither. The vegetables by the river, by the mouth of the river, and every thing sown beside the river shall dry up, wither away, and be no more.

The parched ground shall become a pool and the thirsty land springs of water; in the habitation of dragons, where each lay, shall be grass with reeds and rushes.

And the fords were taken, and they have burned the reeds with fire, and the men of war were astounded.


And they spit upon him and took the reed and smote him on the head.

And they smote him on the head with a reed and spit upon him and bowing their knees worshipped him.


And when they had platted a crown of thorns, they put it upon his head and a reed in his right hand; and they bowed the knee before him and mocked him, saying, Receive joy, King of the Jews!
