Carnality » Who is carnal
For sin, finding opportunity in the commandment, deceived me, and by it killed me. So the law is holy, and the commandment is holy and just and good. Did that which is good, then, become death to me? Certainly not! But it was sin, working death in me through what is good, in order that sin might be recognized as sin, so that through the commandment sin might become sinful beyond measure. read more.

But I, brethren, could not address you as spiritual men, but as carnal men, as infants in Christ. I gave you milk, not solid food; for you were not yet ready for it. Indeed, even now you are not ready, for you are still carnal. For since there is jealousy and strife among you, are you not carnal, and are you not walking like mere men? read more.

But it was sin, working death in me through what is good, in order that sin might be recognized as sin, so that through the commandment sin might become sinful beyond measure. We know that the law is spiritual; but I am carnal, sold under sin. I do not understand what I do. For I do not do what I want to do, but I do what I hate. Now if I do what I do not want to do, I agree that the law is good. So then, it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells within me. For I know that nothing good dwells within me, that is, in my flesh. I can will to do what is good, but I cannot do it. For I do not do the good I want to do; but the evil I do not want to do is what I do. Now if I do what I do not want to do, it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells within me. So I find it to be a law that when I want to do good, evil is present with me. For I delight in the law of God, in my inner being, but I see in my members another law, at war against the law of my mind and making me captive to the law of sin which dwells in my members. Wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death? Thanks be to Godthrough Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, I of myself serve the law of God with my mind, but with my flesh I serve the law of sin.

Law » What the law is
The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law.

Therefore no flesh will be justified in his sight by works of the law, for through the law comes knowledge of sin.

What shall we say, then? Is the law sin? Certainly not! Indeed, I would not have known what sin was except through the law. For I would not have known what coveting really was if the law had not said, "You shall not covet." But sin, finding opportunity by the commandment, produced in me all kinds of covetous desire. Why the Law then? It was added because of transgressions, having been ordained through angels by the agency of a mediator, until the seed would come to whom the promise had been made. Now a mediator does not represent just one party; but God is one. Is the law then opposed to the promises of God? Certainly not! For if a law had been given which could impart life, then righteousness would indeed have come by the law. read more.
But the Scripture has bound everyone under sin, so that that what was promised by faith in Jesus Christ might be given to those who believe. Now before faith came, we were bound under the law, kept under restraint until faith should be revealed. So the law was our tutor to lead us to Christ, that we might be justified by faith. But now that faith has come, we are no longer under a tutor. For you are all sons of God, through faith in Christ Jesus. For all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus. And if you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham's offspring, heirs according to promise.

Law » Christ being the end of the law
But their minds were hardened; for to this day, when they read the old covenant, the same veil remains unlifted, because only in Christ is it removed. Even to this day when Moses is read, a veil lies over their hearts. But whenever a person turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away.
For Christ is the end of the law, that there may be righteousness for everyone who believes.

There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set me free from the law of sin and death. Do you not know, brethrenfor I am speaking to those who know the lawthat the law has authority over a man only as long as he lives? For a married woman is bound by law to her husband as long as he lives, but if her husband dies she is released from the law of her husband. So then, she will be called an adulteress if she lives with another man while her husband is alive. But if her husband dies, she is free from that law, and though she marries another man, she is not an adulteress. read more.
Likewise, my brethren, you have died to the law through the body of Christ, so that you may belong to another, to him who was raised from the dead, in order that we may bear fruit to God. While we were living in the flesh, our sinful passions, aroused by the law, were at work in our members to bear fruit for death.
