He will rule them with a rod of iron and break them to pieces like clay vessels: even as I received from my Father. Verse ConceptsGovernmentIronSceptreSymbolsRodsIron ObjectsAuthority Of DisciplesRelationship Of Father And SonThe Father's Activity Regarding Christ

We know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose. Those he first recognized, he ordained in advance that they be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers. He ordained in advance the ones he called. He declared righteous the ones he called. He also glorified those he declared righteous.

Yes, but you, O man, who are you to answer back to God? Shall the thing formed say to him that formed it: Why have you made me this way? (Isaiah 45:9) Or does the potter not have authority over the clay? Can he make out of the same lump one vessel to honor, and another for common use? (Jeremiah 18:6) If God decided to show his wrath and make his power known, endured with much long-suffering vessels of wrath fit for destruction. read more.
In that way he could make known the riches of his glory upon vessels of mercy that he had prepared in advance for glory. We are the ones he has also called, not only from among the Jews, but also from among the nations. He says also in Hosea: Those who are not my people I will call my people. And she who is not loved I will call loved. In the place where it was said to them: You are not my people, they will be called Sons of the living God. (Hosea 2:23)

We preach Christ impaled. It is a stumbling block to the Jews and foolishness to the nations! To those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, it is Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God.

He who is called in the Lord, being a slave, is the Lord's freeman. Likewise also he who is called, being free, is Christ's slave. You are bought with a price. Stop being slaves of men. Brothers, let every man remain in the condition in which he was called. Abide with God.

As I passed along, and observed the objects of your worship, I found also an altar with this inscription: To An Unknown God. What you worship as unknown, this I will proclaim to you. The God that made the world and all things in it is the Lord of heaven and earth. He does not live in temples made with hands. Men's hands do not serve him as if he needed anything. He gives life and breath to all. read more.
From one person he made every nation of men to dwell on all the face of the earth. He determined their appointed seasons, and the bounds of their habitation. God did this so man could seek him and might find him. He is not far from each one of us. In him we live, and move, and have our existence. Your own poets have said: For we are also his offspring. Being then the offspring of God, we should not think that the divine being is like gold, or silver, or stone, a device made by man's design or skill.

All who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God. For you have not received a spirit of bondage again causing fear, but you have received a spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Father, Father! (Chaldee: Abba, meaning father). The Spirit itself (Greek:autos ho pneuma) (itself the Spirit) bears witness with our spirit (mind and heart), that we are children of God. read more.
If children, then heirs of God, and joint heirs with Christ. If indeed we suffer with him we may also be glorified with him.

Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers: for what fellowship does righteousness have with lawlessness? Or what communion does light have with darkness? And what accord has Christ with Belial? Or what does a believer have in common with an unbeliever? And what agreement does a temple of God have with idols? We are the temple of the living God. God said: I will dwell in them, and walk among them; and I will be their God, and they will be my people. (Leviticus 26:12) (Zechariah 8:8) read more.
Therefore come out from among them and be separate (set off) (severed from them) (excluded from them), said Jehovah. Do not touch the unclean thing and I will receive you. (Isaiah 52:11) (Jeremiah 51:45) I will be a Father to you, and you will be to me sons and daughters, said Jehovah God the Almighty. (Hosea 1:10)

Do all things without complaining (grumbling) (murmuring) and questioning (disputing). That way you may become blameless and harmless, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation. You are seen as lights in the world.

Observe the love the Father gave to us that we should be called the children of God. That is what we are! For this reason the world does not know us. This is because it did not know him. Beloved, now we are children of God. It is not yet revealed what we will be. We know that when he is revealed we will be like him. We will see him just as he is.
