And the Lord said to Moses, Say to the children of Israel, I am the Lord your God. You may not do those things which were done in the land of Egypt where you were living; and you may not do those things which are done in the land of Canaan where I am taking you, or be guided in your behaviour by their rules.
You are not to do things then in the way in which we now do them here, every man as it seems right to him:
Doing nothing through envy or through pride, but with low thoughts of self let everyone take others to be better than himself;
