Let everyone be on guard against his neighbor. Do not trust any brother because every brother deals craftily (cunningly), and every neighbor goes about as a slanderer. Everyone deceives his neighbor and does not speak the truth. They have taught their tongue to speak lies. They wear themselves out committing sin. You live in the middle of deceit. Through deceit they refuse to know me, says Jehovah.

It is better to trust in Jehovah than to depend on people. It is better to trust in Jehovah than to depend on human leaders.

The best of them is as a brier. The most upright is worse than a thorn hedge! Your watchmen's day has come. Your visitation has come. Now you will be perplexed. Do not put your faith in your neighbor. Do not trust a friend! Guard your lips from her who lies in your bosom (is your intimate companion). The son dishonors the father. The daughter rises up against her mother and the daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law. A man's enemies are the men of his own house.
