But beware of men; for they will deliver you to Sanhedrims, and scourge you in their synagogues,
But take heed to yourselves; they shall deliver you up to Sanhedrims, and you shall be beaten in synagogues, and shall be brought before governors and kings for my sake, for a testimony to them.
Therefore, behold, I send you prophets, and wise men, and scribes. Some of them you will kill and crucify; and some of them you will scourge in your synagogues, and persecute from city to city;
in stripes, in imprisonments, in dissensions, in labors, in watchings, in fastings,
and others had trial of mockings and scourges, and besides of bonds and imprisonment;
And I said, Lord, they know that I imprisoned and beat in the synagogues those who believed on you;
And the chief priest Ananias commanded those standing by to strike him on the mouth. Then Paul said to him, God is about to strike you, whitewashed wall; and do you sit to judge me according to the law, and command me to be struck contrary to the law?
And they were persuaded by him, and calling the apostles and scourging them, they charged them not to speak in the name of Jesus, and dismissed them.
But Paul said to him, They have beaten us publicly uncondemned, being Romans, and cast us into prison; and now do they privately cast us out? No, indeed: but let them come themselves and conduct us out.
And they all took Sosthenes the synagogue-ruler and beat him before the tribunal; and Gallio cared for none of these things.
