Psalm 106:39-43

Thus they were defiled with their own works and went a whoring with their own inventions. Therefore was the wrath of the LORD kindled against his people, insomuch that he abhorred his own inheritance. And he gave them into the hand of the Gentiles, and those that hated them ruled over more.
Their enemies oppressed them, and they were brought into subjection under their hand. He delivered them many times, but they rebelled at his counsel and were brought low for their iniquity.

Psalm 78:58-61

For they provoked him to anger with their high places and moved him to jealousy with their graven images. God heard this and was wroth and greatly abhorred Israel: For this reason he forsook the tabernacle of Shiloh, the tent in which he dwelt among menread more.

For the LORD hears the destitute and does not despise his prisoners.

Nevertheless he would look upon their affliction and hear their cry and remember his covenant with them and repent according to the multitude of his mercies. He also caused those that carried them captives to have mercy upon them.

Deuteronomy 24:17-18

Thou shalt not twist the rights of the stranger nor of the fatherless nor take a widow's clothing for a pledge, but thou shalt remember that thou wast a slave in Egypt, and the LORD thy God ransomed thee from there; therefore, I command thee to do this thing.
