Sufficient for such a one is this punishment which was inflicted by the majority, so you should rather turn to forgive and comfort him, so that he will not be overwhelmed by excessive sorrow. I urge you, therefore, to reaffirm your love for him.

Speak these things; exhort and reprove with all authority. Let no one disregard you.

If anyone does not obey our instruction in this letter, take special note of that person and do not associate with him, so that he may be ashamed.

I know your works, your toil and your patient endurance. I know that you cannot bear evil men, but you have tested those who call themselves apostles and are not, and have found them to be false;

"If your brother sins against you, go and tell him his fault, between you and him alone. If he listens to you, you have gained your brother. But if he will not listen, take one or two others along with you, so that 'every matter may be established by the word of two or three witnesses.' If he refuses to listen to them, tell it to the church; and if he refuses to listen even to the church, let him be to you as a Gentile and a tax collector.

This testimony is true. Therefore, rebuke them sharply, so that they may be sound in the faith

Brethren, even if anyone is caught in a trespass, you who are spiritual, restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness; each one looking to yourself, so that you too will not be tempted.
